Of Tenant & Lessors

by , in
Dear Me,

I would like to welcome my newest tenant for the week. She is known as
SuperMom and blogs at Musings of a Self-Proclaimed Supermom. She is a happy mother who loves her family above all else.

Wanna know more about her? Better check her out by clicking that small box in this entry or at the left sidebar of my blog. =)

***********

On the other hand, I have two (2) running campaigns from these nice bloggers. It was very nice of blog owners princess2006 of
The Sophisticated Writer and perisblurbs of My So-Called Ramblings to let me in their blogspace for the second time. Yes! I have rented their spaces twice and they never denied me once. Thanks. =)

The former is "the diary of a 20-something year old female writer and poet who dreams of becoming published worldwide" while the latter blogs about 'what she writes, when she writes and how she writes on a somewhat daily basis about herself, life and stuff....'

They're cool! Check them out. =)

27th Manila International Bookfair

by , in
Dear Me,

Booklovers like me would never miss attending the annual
Manila International Bookfair come rain or shine. Oh yeah, I was there. Were you? Hehehe.

The 27th Manila International Bookfair was held from August 30th till September 3rd at the World Trade Center. I was there September 2nd, around half past two (2) in the afternoon, just right after I took this boring (boring because I flunked it, I guess) exam in UP.

The moment I entered the WTC, I felt like a bouncing ball; too happy to see the countless books before me. For a few seconds, I was spellbound by the sight of books laid before my eyes. I was bewitched.

Unlike the past bookfairs, I didn't spend much. I could only spare a limited PhP1,500. So I only bought three (3) books this time. I told myself that I would "compensate" this year's budgeted purchase next year. *winks*

I chose to buy these 3 books:
When We Were Gods: A Novel Of Cleopatra by Colin Falconer, Sushi For Beginners by Marian Keyes, FSO IV: Starting A Career In The Philippine Foreign Service by Marciano De Borja.

Among these three (3), I am most eager to start flipping through the pages of the first one. I don't know why but I am really curious about the history of the royal and popular Egyptians of olden times - the likes of Amenhotep, King Rameses II, etc.

On another note, I am still waiting for the time I can put up my mini-library inside my small room. Hmm.

The rest of the photos are here.

Bad Day

by , in
Dear Me,

First time I heard this, I liked it already. The lyrics is kinda lonely but I like the beat.

Bad Day
Daniel Powter

Where is the moment we needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to gray
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee you go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces every time
And I don't need no carryin' on

Because you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Will you need a blue sky holiday?
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carryin' on

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day

(Oooh.. a holiday..)

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I'm not wrong

(yeah...)

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You've seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Heaven 'N Eggs

by , in
Dear Me,

I have been longing to dine at this heavenly yet homey resto at Glorietta. Well, fairy godfather aka papi dex made my wish come true. He treated me to dinner at
Heaven 'N Eggs. Unfortunately, I didn't like the taste of what I ordered. Sayang.

Anyway, I liked the area where I sat. There was this small birdhouse behind my back. Hehehe. Guess what my dear honey did? He took photos of me whether I was aware or not. He used his mobile phone camera to take the shots and amazingly, the turn-out was good. Parang I like to have that kind of phone na....Hehehe.

Thursday Thirteen #8

by , in
Dear Me,

It's been quite a while since I last joined
Thursday Thirteen. I can't think of a more interesting topic than this:

Thirteen THINGS I Cannot Live Without

  1. Contact Lens - I can't see or move without them.

  2. Planner - As much as I hate it to be busy, I also love being one. Whether it's work or part of my social life, it has to be in that planner.

  3. Mobile Phone - Back then, I regarded this small technology as luxury. But these days, it's a necessity since everyone I know is mobile (moving).

  4. Money - Do I need to elaborate? =)

  5. Powder - Loose powder freshens me up...I guess. Hehehe.

  6. PDA - I love to write stuff. Very important for me and handy, too.

  7. Book - I love to read and collect books. They bring me anywhere I want. I am fascinated with the kind of knowledge I get from them by simply moving the pages with my thumb. They also alleviate the stress of waiting for someone alone for too long.

  8. Facial Soap - It's a necessity for us, girls.

  9. Earrings - I simply feel inadequate if I leave the house without them.

  10. Hair Conditioner - I was born with wavy hair and most of the time, I have bad hair days. Hehehe.

  11. ID - I look younger than my age. When paying for movie tickets, either I get this kind of look or be asked how old I am. If I answer, they won't believe me and demand me to show an ID proving that I am old enough to watch the movie.

  12. Daily Broadsheet - I have this uneasiness around me if I don't have any awareness of what's going on.

  13. Coffee - my daily caffeine, adrenaline fix. Without it, I won't be as "sweet" as I am. Hahaha!

While in Baguio

by , in
Dear Me,

Being in Baguio most of the time, I am always on the look-out for new things to do and new places to see. In plain terms, new experience. So, allow me to share this with you.

  • ...hear this music group called 'On Call' perform at The Manor in Camp John Hay. The band is composed of Dr. Dennis, Marie, Jett, Ivan. They play during Thursdays-Saturdays from 9:00 in the evening till the clock strikes 12 at midnight.

  • ...visit Atenara House and have a Murder Mystery Dinner. Atenara House is located at #40 CM Recto, Navy Base Road.

  • ...check-out this bar called Rumours located at Session Road before PNB, just across McDonald's.

  • ...give yourself a relaxing soaking at the Asin Hot Springs. You owe it to yourself given the cold weather of Baguio.

  • ...while your time at SM Baguio. You can have a perfect view of the city from the 3rd floor.

  • ...visit Tamawan Village. It is an artists' village located at Quezon Hill. Here, you will find yourself appreciating Cordillera life and tons of amazing art stuff. I think you can also have your portrait done for you. =)

  • ...have a taste of Korean food at this resto called Wood Nymph. This is located across Camp John Hay.

  • ...night life? Walk your way to Legarda. Stand in one corner and take your pick. I'm talking about bars, not pick-ups, ok? Hehehe.

  • ...meet friends and chat over coffee at Dainty's.

  • ...or just take a snack at Baguio Country Club and sample their cinnamon bread with raisins.

  • ...visit Cafe By The Ruins, in front of the Baguio City hall. It's a charmingly simple cafe where you can taste the bounty of Baguio. You can also try their Benguet coffee and don't forget the blueberry muffins.

  • ...experience Ifugao Woodcarvers Village. Situated on the way to Asin, about 5 km from the city, is an Ifugao wood carving village which produces and sells beautiful hand-carved items at very low prices and is well worth a visit even if you don't intend buying anything.

  • ...visit PMA. What to do? Boy-hunting...period. Hehehe.

    Finally

    by , in
    Dear Me,

After almost a month of waiting, I already got my father's verified copy of birth certificate.

It was early August when I filed requests of copies of my folks' birth and marriage certificates. In two (2) weeks' time, I got a positive response from
E-Census about their marriage certificate (got it via 2go). Unfortunately, I had to wait for quite a while for the delivery of their birth certificates to my office.

A few days later, came my mom's bc (via 2go, too). The search yielded negative because her bc is still rotting in her hometown's municipal/registrar office. I called up their hotline and inquired what would be the next step since I paid twice the amount of the supposed value of requesting for one. I was told to contact mom's hometown's municipal office and request that her bc be endorsed to the Central Office here in Manila. I was just wondering what was the logic of centralizing their system when requesters (like me) in that same situation be the one to contact the local office. See, it's like this. If you want to centralize your system, say for E-Census, why just NSO Main issue a mandate or order to all their local or provincial offices to forward all their data (okay, I also think that local offices should have copies of their own) to NSO Main? I know that it will be such a tedious job but (please enlighten me if I am wrong) that is what exactly they are doing, right? Anyway, I already told mother to contact her relatives back in Quezon and assist her in the process.

As for Papa's bc, well, it came in just now via Air21. I was expecting this one to be delivered to me the earliest. Well, NSO emailed me and said that they would have to re-validate since the copy that they had in the Central Office contained illegible entries. I asked what re-validating meant and according to them, it meant counter-checking the entries from the provincial archives back in Pampanga. Nyak. I asked how long it would take to get the requested copy and nobody replied anymore. And so I waited.

Well, I have it now. To my Tita M in the First World, copies of papa's bc and the mc will be on its way to you within this week.
