PhotoHunt: Fresh

by , in
Dear Me,

I have been thinking last night of what to photograph for this week's PhotoHunt theme. What came to mind were veggies and fruits, air, flowers, water from a brook, etc. Unfortunately, those were not available for any snapshots.

This week's theme: FRESH

And so I just wandered outside this morning and this caught my attention:

The morning dew as evidenced in this big leafy plant rendered a FRESH perspective. As the day amazingly unfolds before me, it gives a whole new meaning of being alive.

Creative Use For A Jollibee Bucket

by , in
Dear Me,

I am surprised how fast my little boy is growing up. He is so imaginative of things around him. He can make things so interesting even he is only playing by himself. Sometimes, I wished I had given birth to twins so he could had someone to play with.

Anyway, I was reading a book last night when my little boy called me. When I looked at him, this was what I saw:

Yes! He was sitting in this little toy wagon with his feet inside it. I sort of freaked out because there was a possibility he would lose his balance considering his weight and the wagon's ability to hold him. Also, he was moving himself in it by pushing the wheels with his hands.

And you know what? When I told him to get off, he said that he was wearing a helmet. He improvised a head gear so he would be safe. Now that's a creative idea. Hehehe.

I'm now seeing a plastic Jollibee bucket in another light. *winks*

What I Love About Julia Roberts

by , in
Dear Me,

I first fell in love with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in their 1990 blockbuster movie, Pretty Woman. I guessed we all did. And who wouldn't?

The unusual romantic story had gotten into me. I was in high school, not totally raging hormones as a teen-ager but the romantic plot overwhelmed me; even dreaming that I would be swept off my feet by the yummy Richard Gere himself. Hehehe.

Pretty Woman had me signing in my own slumbook as well as my classmates' as Julia Roberts as my favorite actress and Richard Gere as my favorite actor. If you're going to ask me even now, I will be saying that both of them are still my number 1 artistas.

And with that, I am going to tell you why I love Julia Roberts.

  • I love her wild, curly, auburn hair. in fact, I am so envious. If I'm going to have a wish right now, that would be to have that kind of hair.

  • She's a natural when it comes to doing romantic comedies.

  • I have high praises for her fashion sense. I love the evening gowns she dons during events.

  • "I'm also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." Enough said.

  • I love her being in the company of other acclaimed actors in the Ocean Eleven series.

  • She got an infectious smile and just hear it when she laughs. Hehehe.

  • Roberts has a big heart, too. She served as UNICEF's goodwill ambassador and continuously render her time and money to anyone needing it.

Nope. I'm not a tomboy. I simply admire her as a person. :)

Mommy Moments - Summer Days Are Here

by , in
Dear Me,

Being a not-so-new-mom to my 2 year old boy, I want him to experience everything a kid his age will enjoy. With the summer season sweating everyone out, the best place to beat the heat is in the water.

We had our very first family summer outing with Miguel in Cool Waves Ranch & Waterpark Resort located in Bulacan.

his very first dip in a swimming pool

see the happiness on his face? :)

Early this month, I bought him an inflatable pool where he can spend a hot day while in the house. Not too small and yet not too big for his size. :) I chose this one amongst the three cute selections I had because of the washable crayons that can be used to paint the top ring depicting images of sea creatures.

priceless happiness in his face

The family is considering of having a summer outing somewhere nearby. Main suggestion is in Island Cove in Cavite since its quite accessible in the city.

I am also most excited in enrolling my little boy in a summer play club care of Kids Ahoy.

Spoilers & Possible Ifs

by , in
Dear Me,

I've been on top of things (when it comes to being updated with my fave shows). I dislike major spoilers but a teeny-weeny bit makes it very exciting. I am so looking forward to watching the next episodes with a popcorn and iced tea. :)

House (Season 6): A marriage proposal is in the works this finale. I've been racking my brains who but the most possible is Cuddy and Lucas. But I got the idea that Lucas may be kicked out anytime. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not such a Lucas fan.

Bones (Season 5): The Gravedigger scare is not yet over.

Castle (Season 2): A new love interest for Kate Beckett. I can't wait to see how Castle will handle this. Hehehe.

Gossip Girl (Season 3): A Humphreys character may not see the light of the day when this season ends.

Law & Order SVU (Season 11): ADA Alex has totally exited the show. I hope she'll be back next season.

Music Monday: Unstoppable {Rascal Flatts}

by , in
Dear Me,

There are times when you're hearing nice music over the air waves that you feel like capturing those songs in your heart. It is either you can relate to it or simply, you love the meaning behind the lines. It can also be that you are a great fan of the artist or merely, the music suits your current mood.

I was watching one of my favorite tv series, CSI Miami when I heard this song:

UNSTOPPABLE
by Rascal Flatts

Yeah yeah yeah..
Hey

So, so you made a lot of mistakes
Walked down the road a little sideways
Cracked a brick when you hit the wall
Yeah, you've had a pocket full of regrets
Pull you down faster than a sunset
Hey, it happens to us all

When the cold hard rain just won't quit
And you can't see your way out of it

CHORUS
You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what's been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don't give in
It'll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable

Love, it weather any storm
Bring you back to being born again
oh, it's a helping hand when you need it most
A lighthouse shinning on the coast
That never goes dim

When your heart is full of doubt
And you think that there's no way out

CHORUS
You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what's been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don't give in
It'll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable

Like a river keeps on rolling
Like the north wind blowing
Don't it feel good knowing
Yeah

CHORUS
You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what's been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don't give in
It'll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable

Love is unstoppable
So you made a lot of mistakes
Walked down the road a little sideways
Love, love is unstoppable

My adjectives: country, ballad, powerful, moving.

Cheers to my first Music Monday participation!

    * Grab your current read.

    * Open to a random page.

    * Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.

(make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

    * Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here are my chosen teasers:

"But you gotta admit, rules and principles are simpler than relationships.

It is true that relationships are a whole lot messier than rules, but rules will never give you answers to the deep questions of the heart and they will never love you."

I Miss My Man

by , in
Dear Me,

It's been six weeks and two days since the day he flew away (now you're wondering if I'm talking about my pet bird...hehehe). I'm referring to my better half.

I kinda miss my dear hubby. My one and only twitheart. My one and only honey. My one and only papi. My one and only Dex.

When he left the 7,107 islands, I could not help but shed silent tears. I tried not to weep at the airport but I knew I was close to doing it. When we bid each other goodbye, I tried to smile through the endless and repetitive reminders of taking of myself and my little boy.

The first few days were totally unbearable. I felt so depressed that I found myself crying every hour. My little boy was wondering why and most of the time, he would pat my back or ruffle my hair and hug me. He was too young to understand what was happening or why he would not be able to see his father physically nor sleep beside him at night nor play with him during weekends. And everytime my little angel does those comforting things (despite those adorable gestures), it made the pain of separation more hurting for he reminded me much of the man I married and whom I would love to spend the rest of my life with.

Days passed by and sobbing became a normal part of the day. There were so many things around the house that breathe of the man. The physical distance was too much to take. But I knew then that it wouldn't be long that things would be back to normal. I kept myself preoccupied with a lot of things. True enough, I cried less than I used to.

Weeks passed by and communicating with each other was becoming a routine activity for the three of us. Thanks to our technology today for it somehow lessen the loneliness by helping us connect with him despite the distance.

I miss a lot of things and the things he does for me. I miss my family being complete, having him in the house and our weekend escapades.

It does takes time to endure everything: the physical, mental and emotional melancholy. I am patient and smile through the day and the next thing I know, I am beaming naturally.

To my dear Papi Dex, our love for each other will see us through (I think I heard this line before...hehehe) no matter the distance.

I love you. *muah*

Travel: Favorite Place

by , in
Dear Me,

I'm feeling the itch again...to travel.

It has been a long time since the bug has struck me. I was wondering where to go. I have been so out of touch, out of my element,

I miss climbing mountains. I miss the beach.

Sometimes, I dislike the scorching effect of the sun. You see, when dear God decided to shower fairness amongst us people, I was probably hidden somewhere else. While growing up, I felt so insecure about my dark skin. I studied in a Chinese school where fair skin abound. Anyway, that was high school.

College was quite good for me. I grew confident and contented. I didn't care what other people would say about me and my skin.

Mt. Talamitam

Because of the I-don't-care-attitude I have come to adopt, I was not scared to engage in climbing mountains. In fact, I welcomed the warmth of the sun in my already dark skin while trekking.

On the other hand, I don't consider myself a beach gal. Not because of the typical effect of the sun but more of the reality that I could not swim.

Puerto Galera

But then, I realized that I could still enjoy the beach. Frolicking in the water, reading a good book under the shade of a tree, napping in the sand, etc.

Anyway, I am longing to wander around with my family and friends.

I am hoping you can tell me your favorite place and why me and my family should check it out, too.

Time For A Make-Over?

by , in
Dear Me,

I was checking my inbox this morning and I just saw this ad from Cosmopolitan.ph magazine.

Courtesy of Pond's, a free make-over from prestigious fashion and beauty gurus awaits 7 chosen readers!

Honestly, I entertained the thought of taking a shot at it. I have my reasons.

  1. When I became a mom, I totally disregarded taking care of my physical self. It was for the reason that there were so many things to do and spending the little time I had on 'beautifying' myself was too much to spare.

  2. And when the desire to drop by a salon to have a mere haircut pops up, I have to leave my little boy with my folks at home or given no choice at all, bring him in the salon with me and tag along anywhere I go. Most often than not, the desire to have a trim disappears as fast as the whim to have one.

  3. There was this one time (sometime last year) that I got so fascinated with make-ups. I mean, the art of application. I want to learn the basics, the proper combination, mix-and-match, the types of brushes, etc. I know how to apply some but I want to really know the proper way to do it.

As a mom, I think that women should not sacrifice the way we look just because we have discovered motherhood. We should be at our absolute best not only for the men in our lives but also for our own selves.

On second thought, the idea of participating just make me squirm with shyness. I don't feel like parading myself. We'll see. Hahaha.

PS. I'm not even sure if this is only for working women. But it just said readers.

PS1. Let me know if you're going to join. I have my own saying that: Company boosts confidence. HAHAHA.
