Most Favorite & Greatest Scare

by , in
Dear Me,

There are only two (2) things that is in my mind right now. It is my favorite, overwhelming song of
Aerosmith's I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing and these repulsive creatures that survived Earth ---- the cockroaches!

All because of
Frances' post. Hahaha!

Skimming through the lyrics, you would say it had a nice, almost perfect co-relation. You would wonder what a cockroach had in mind when you were sleeping and he was so close by, ready to take a taste of you. Iwww!

Read through the lyrics and you'll know.

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
Far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Well, every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Lying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're seeing
Then I kiss your eyes and thank God we're together
And I just wanna stay with you
In this moment forever, forever and ever

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna miss one smile
I don't wanna miss one kiss
Well, I just wanna be with you
Right here with you, just like this
I just wanna hold you close
Feel your heart so close to mine
And stay here in this moment
For all the rest of time

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
'Cause I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't wanna miss a thing

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna fall asleep, yeah
I don't wanna miss a thing

I love this song especially in the movie, Armageddon. I cried buckets and buckets of tears in the movies' two (2) heart-wrenching scenes: (a) when Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck bid each other goodbye before the latter went on a life-saving mission and (b) when Bruce Willis took it upon himself to save Earth. Even after the movie ended and the screen played the credits, I was still weeping for I felt like my heart broke.

About cockroaches, people in the house and my hubby know that I'm scared bigtime of cockroaches, especially the flying ones (trivia: they come out of their hiding places and fly like lunatics when heavy rains are about to bring hell). I can't seem to shake the terrifying sensation when I see one.

Relating this favorite song to my greatest scare is weirdly...funny. I know. It is supposed to be the other way around, like hated or sorry to have the song ruined by the thought of a cockroach. Hahaha.

When you hear this song, think of the cockroaches that survived the bombings during the past World Wars and those that had bitten you while you were sleeping. Hehehe.

While I am scribbling this post, I am playing the song in the background. :)

Charice Pempengco

by , in
Dear Me,

Such a small, cute girl and yet so talented. A singing sensation at a very young age.
Charice is a major force to reckon with in the international scene.

I was in awe when I heard her duet with my favorite
Celine Dion. Their voices together gave me the goosebumps. It was so powerful!

I kinda felt teary-eyed, too, when they sung Because You Loved Me and dedicated it to Charice's mom.

Teen Singing Sensation
--> scroll all through 11 pages. :)

Because You Loved Me

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

PEx Days

by , in
Dear Me,

Sometimes, I couldn't help but miss the good, old days. You know, going to parties, hooking-ups with new and old friends alike.

I was then an active
PExer and through this forum, I forged good, real friendships with other members.

Photos from our 'younger' years:

Trivia:

  • She was the 'initiator' of eyeballs in the forum, party girl.

  • He looked so thin then but now, wow! Muscle man na. He added some muscle and now has the right to wear fit body-hugging shirts. I'm sure that behind the shirt is a 6-pack abs. Uy....Hahaha!

  • She is thin pa rin daw despite the fact that she eats a lot.

  • I love this girl for being so cool to be with. I miss her. I think now, she's engaging in photography.

  • She is now working in Singapore after leaving US. According to her, wala daw papa dun sa state niya. Hahaha.

  • I simply don't know what to say about this guy. Kanino ba siyang stalker? Find him in the photo. Hehehe.

  • Who is this guy who we thought was listening to our chatter while waiting for Starbucks 6750 to close shop at 4am? He was peacefully dozing while slouched in one of the chairs.

  • Where is this boy, este girl? He/She was such a wacky person.

  • Smart girl from La Salle. Friendly and sweet. :)

Take a guess. Whoever guess them all right will get something from me. Hehehe.

PS. I didn't look like I'm a Makati working girl. It seemed like my mom just asked me to buy vinegar in the sari-sari store. Hahaha!

PhotoHunt: Road

by , in
Dear Me,

Miguel is still asleep as of this writing so I am grabbing the opportunity to join the PhotoHunt. This Saturday's theme is ROAD.

When I got the notification about this week's theme, this image popped into my head. I skimmed through my photo archives and wondered if I had the photo in mind. Luckily, it was there.

After an overnight trek to the mountains, it was finally a relief to walk the road that would lead us back to the city. It was my first climb in 2003 after being laid low for more than two (2) years. I was doubtful to join because I had no exercise and trekking for hours is muscle-straining and simply exhausting. Second, I wasn't feeling that well, too. I knew that sounded stupid. But I really loved to join my group so I climbed with them despite the odds. ---> (If I didn't join, I wouldn't have met and married the guy I am with now). Hehehe.

So, what about you? Does your photo theme for today elicit a special memory? :)

PDA S2 Thoughts

by , in
Dear Me,

Well, the top six finalists had been recently designated their so-called rightful place. I wasn't really an avid
PDA Season 2 follower but most of the time, I didn't skip watching it.

Anyway, I didn't think
Laarni would stay long enough to be the grand star dreamer winner - the very first time I sat in the sofa and watch it. I guiltily deduced that she had an attitude problem. Hehehe.

Laarni: The Grand Star Dreamer

But I was wrong. Somehow, I had consistently watch the reality drama for consecutive days and discovered that Laarni had a powerful, almost consuming voice. With that voice of hers, she commands ear and attention.

Bugoy, being the second placer, was just fair enough. He was humble and really did improve.

Miguel as the third placer was actually a surprise for me. I would rather have him in fourth place, swapping with Liezel, who was my bet for third place. I liked this Puerto Galera lass.

Van and Cris were just in their very rightful position.

PS. Do they really win simply because of text votes? I was never really into reality tv shows except for sports-related ones like the
Amazing Race.

SkyWatch Friday

by , in
Dear Me,

It's another edition of
SkyWatch Friday.

From the
SkyWatch Friday's site:

This photo was taken while on board the plane. It felt heavenly to be one with the clouds.

Trivia: Can you see something beyond the clouds? A mountain lurked behind. Well, it's more like a volcano; an active one that is known as the Mayon Volcano located in the province of Albay in the Bicol Region here in the Philippines.

This active volcano is known all over the world for its almost perfect cone. Currently,
Mayon Volcano is contending for a place in the New 7 Wonders Of Nature campaign. Live ranking shows that it's in 10th place as of September 18th, 10:00 GMT.

Not to be sidetracked, this is my SkyWatch post for today.

Old Travel Photos: Cebu & Legazpi

by , in
Dear Me,

I was sorting my photo archive and I found travel shots from way back. Well, they were not great shots, so to speak. But these photos (plus the memories) were the reasons that initiated my itching feet to wander around places.

In
Cebu:

Magellan's Cross

Fort San Pedro

In Legazpi:
Mayon Volcano viewed from the airplane

Mayon Volcano - perfect cone

Mayon Volcano -
beautiful sight at the Legazpi Airport

tablet of the Cagsawa Ruins

I have better photo shots of these travel destinations. I just can't help but be reminded of the past. :)

Unconscious Mutterings: One

by , in
Dear Me,

To give time for my mind to drift away, here's a good exercise courtesy of
Unconscious Mutterings.
Free association is described as a "psychonanalytic procedure in which a person is encouraged to give free rein to his or her thoughts and feelings, verbalizing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content." Over time, this technique is supposed to help bring forth repressed thoughts and feelings that the person can then work through to gain a better sense of self.

That's an admirable goal, but for the purposes of this excercise, we're just hoping to have a little fun with the technique. Each week I'll post ten words to which you can respond to with the first thing that comes to mind.

"Rules are, there are no rules." There are no right or wrong answers. Don't limit yourself to one word responses; just say everything that pops into your head. AND you don't have to have your words up on Sunday. Take all week if you want! Read the FAQ for more information.

Nicely Tags

by , in
Dear Me,

Ex-
UP schoolmate and blogger friend-now Nicely tagged me. She said the tag was for married people and since I'm in that current status, allow me to do this.

  1. When was your first kiss?

First kiss? Excluding the kiss I got from ex-child wonder Nino Muhlach while I was still a toddler, I couldn't think of any. My first romantic kiss was when I had my first real boyfriend at 23. Hahaha!

  2. When was your first REAL relationship and how long did it last?

I had a couple of flings (not really in its truest sense of the word) but deducing my answer in Q#1, I had my first REAL relationship when I was 23 y/o. Unfortunately, it didn't last long. I even waited for our 6th month of togetherness before I decided to call it quits. Yeah, I know that it sounds cruel.

  3. What age were you allowed to date?

There wasn't really a declaration in the house what age I was allowed to go out with boys on a date. But alluding to a spoken reminder that I can only engage in any romanticism was after I finish schooling. Deducing from that, maybe at 19 or 20 y/o. Besides, nobody was interested to date me that time. Boys were after physical beauty. Eh nagkataon na I was so panget! Hahaha.

  4. What was the craziest thing you did for love when you were a teenager?

I had a puppy love. He was our neighbor. So handsome and intelligent (not smart ha). Not really crazy but I felt ashamed that he knew I held a burning torch for him. I watched him play basketball in the neighborhood court and one time, he confronted me to admit that I had a crush on him. Of course, I denied it. He challenged me to an eye-staring game. If I broke the stare from him, that meant I had affectionate feelings for him. Crazy that I engaged in the game and that I lost.

Another crazy thing was when I cried buckets of tears when I was sixteen (16) years old. He was seventeen (17), I think, when he made some girl pregnant. I was hoping that we could be friends since we were already teen-agers (we knew each other already since our elementary schooling age). Because back then, we were cats and dogs - always fighting. So when I learned what happened, I cried for days because I knew there was no chance for us. Hahaha. Isang sawi. Hahaha. :))

  5. How long was your longest relationship and what's the secret?

Longest relationship? Let me divulge the real truth. I ONLY had three (3) real boyfriends in the world of dating, courtships and relationships. The first relationship was previously quoted. The second one lasted merely five (5) months. The third and the last relationship lasted for almost four (4) years. The secret: I didn't have a secret for the answer wouldn't be found in me. The guy was just plain patient and mature enough to subject himself in all my immature tantrums and selfish shortcomings.

  6. How long did you date before you decided to settle down?

The guy mentioned in the previous question is the guy being referred to in this question. Dating stage took almost four (4) years before deciding to take the plunge.

  7. How long did you know that she/he is the one?

If I recall it correctly, I came to the realization during our 3rd year together. I would cry when things get fouled up and everytime I dwell on the idea that he would be forever gone from me, I couldn't breathe and cry at night till I fell asleep from the scary thoughts crowding my mind.

  8. Now, at what age will you allow your kid(s) to date? (if and only if you end up having kids)

I already have a son, a baby boy. when he grows up, I will allow him to date whenever BUT rules such as: [1] Never neglect his schooling; better excel in school and [2] Never ever get a girl pregnant at a very young age and make sure that he is up to the responsibility.

  9. When it comes to your kids dating, will you be a cool parent or a strict parent?

I can be both for I believe that being extreme in parenting is disaster-waiting-to-happen.

  10. What advice can you give your child when they start dating?

Since he is the guy, he would have to be a gentleman and never disrespect girls and women in any way. Enjoy his youth but never forget his limitations. That as his mom, I will be forever in his confidence if he ever needs me. :)

Whew! These questions brought me back to memory lane of not-so-long-ago. Mulling the questions kindled fond memories of the yesteryears. *sigh*

So whom shall I tag? Anyone can hop in the fun. If you decide to do the tag, come by and comment by leaving your links here and I'll find time to drop by. :)

Of Books & Beauty

by , in
Dear Me,

Woohoo! Hubby dropped by at the local post office to retrieve my packages from overseas. Guess what? I got two (2) books from the mail!

Playing With Boys

I won this chick-lit book when Jai from Mami's Time Out had her first giveaway. It was 50-50 win since there were only two (2) participants. According to her, there were many hits but only me and another girl had the time to comment. Well, it was their loss for I had covet this fabulous, hardcover book by Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez entitled "Playing With Boys."

Book synopsis:
The lives of three attractive, young Latina women living in Southern California become real as they search for love and success. Although each of them has a distinctive story and a unique approach to the meaning of life and love, ultimately their goals are the same: to achieve personal and professional success, good relationships with their parents and most importantly, lasting love with a caring partner.

Skid

Entitled Skid as authored by Rene Gutteridge, this softbound, Christian fiction book is already the third installment in the Occupational Hazards series.

I won this book from a book giveaway hosted by
CeeCee over her book blog at Book Splurge.

Book synopsis:
Blissfully unaware that Atlantica Flight 1945 from Atlanta to Amsterdam is about to make aviation history, First Officer Danny McSweeney focuses his energies on navigating the turbulent personalities of an eccentric female captain, a co-pilot with a talent for tactless comments and conspiracy theories, and a lead flight attendant with an outsized attitude that definitely exceeds the limits for carry-on baggage.

On the other side of the cockpit door, the unscheduled in-flight entertainment includes a potbellied pig, a jittery diamond courier, and the recently jilted Lucy Meredith, whose personal mantra of “What Would Oprah Do?” will be challenged by the sudden appearance of her ex and his new traveling partner. On her left sits Hank Hazard, whose unusually polite but constant requests–prompted by his covert role as a spy for the airline-test the limits of the crew’s customer service.

But as Lucy and the rest of the crew discover, Hank’s odd behavior is linked to a quiet faith that may play a key role in the fate of everyone on board. Especially when an unexpected traveler sets this already bumpy flight on a course toward the unfriendly skies.

Yay! Additional books in my TBR pile. I better start reading my pile. Soon. :)

Any books you have acquired lately?

I ordered some Avon beauty products from my sister who does a business sideline on the side while being a full-time CPA. Sometimes I wonder if she really earns because most of the time, she buys the product and use it for her own. Although she got a number of orders, the money that she spent for getting her orders from the store outlet usually went to commuting expenses. Also, since the outlet is in the mall, her profits surely disappears when shopping streak strikes. Added to that, the expenses escalates when she goes out on a date (since she is already in the mall).

According to her, it doesn't matter. It's doing business combined with leisure. Hehehe.

Anyway, here are my purchases:
  • deep wash cleanser with tea tree and grapefruit

  • daily pore cleanser with tea tree and grapefruit

  • feminine wash with cherry blossom scent

What beauty stuff have you purchased lately?

Stephanie Meyer Craze

by , in
Dear Me,

I have a thing for vampires. I find them enchanting and...sexy. Hehehe.

Although I had forbiddenly watched the movie
Interview With The Vampire back in 1994, it was the tv series, Buffy The Vampire Slayer that enlivened my blood to be one of them.

Yes, I dreamed to belong with them, be part of their race.

Why was that? Because during that time, I was a loner or rather, I preferred to be a loner. I had friends but I felt I didn't belong. I was more drawn to books and silence. Then, I learned to watch tv and came in Buffy. She became a habit and introduced
David Boreanaz to me. I was so envious of her for having David. Well, I wasn't envious. I was jadedly jealous!

Why enchanting? I was bewitched by the immortal life vampires lead. It was not because of the notion of having long life or coming close to having the so-called fountain of youth. For me, it was having the endless stretch of life and history in front of my eyes.

David Boreanaz

Why sexy? I fell (still do) in love with Angel (portrayed by Boreanaz). I even still watch his Angel tv series. :)

Relating to the vampire subject, Stephanie Meyer broke the deafening silence over this creatures. Just a very young author, she struck the literary world of vampires when she authored her first book, Twilight. It was later on followed by New Moon, the second book in the Twilight series. And then, Eclipse (third in the series) and Breaking Dawn as the last published book in the Twilight saga.

She was writing a draft of the fifth book of the series, Midnight Sun, when it was maliciously distributed in the internet. Because of this, she indefinitely stopped writing the book. In fact, she even made the partial draft available for those wanting to read it.

When Meyer's books hit the shelves in the bookstores and became bestsellers, I didn't want to participate in the hunt for these most wishlisted books. I told myself I would just let the Twilight madness tone down before I even grab a copy of any of her books.

Twilight movie trailer

But when I learned that Twilight was set to be a movie and to be shown in November, I couldn't let myself be left-out. I jumped in the wagon and painstakingly grab copies of her books. I still have to wait for a few more weeks.

Here are the
synopses of the following Twilight books:

Twilight (Twilight, Book 1)
Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because --- he's a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him.

New Moon (The Twilight Saga, Book 2)
Bella celebrates her birthday with her boyfriend Edward and his family, a unique clan of vampires that has sworn off human blood. But the celebration abruptly ends when the teen accidentally cuts her arm on broken glass. The sight and smell of her blood trickling away forces the Cullen family to retreat lest they be tempted to make a meal of her. After all is mended, Edward, realizing the danger that he and his family create for Bella, sees no option for her safety but to leave. Mourning his departure, she slips into a downward spiral of depression that penetrates and lingers over her every step. Bella befriends Jacob. Their adventures are wild, dare-devilish, and teeter on the brink of romance, but memories of Edward pervade Bella's emotions, and soon their fun quickly morphs into danger, especially when she uncovers the true identities of Jacob and his pack of friends.

Eclipse (The Twilight Saga, Book 3)
As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob --- knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4)
To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs. Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating, and unfathomable, consequences.

Gossip Girl Thoughts

by , in
Dear Me,

I never thought I would even attempt to watch it. It's too high-schooler for me. Even trashy, in fact.

I didn't like the idea of wasting time viewing this new teen tv series. Why would I? Young, rich girls belonging to the elite social circle in Manhattan's Upper East Side, wasting their beautiful lives over mundane to almost senseless things?

For one, I didn't like Serena (as played by Blake Lively). She didn't portray the supposed beauty that boys or even the society would drool about.

Second,
Nate (Chace Crawford) is such a weak character for a guy linked to two (2) strong female characters.

Third, I abhor
Chuck (Ed Westwick). He is a big, hateful pain in the butt.

Well, I had somehow watched it - a few episodes of it.

It was a boring late night and hubby (could you believe it?) was effortlessly watching it. I decided to hop in and watch, minus the popcorn and soda, of course.

I couldn't recall how many episodes we had continuously viewed that time. We called it a night (despite the fact that it was already early dawn) when our eyes called us to slumberland.

Blair Waldorf

Anyway, I still found it too 'teenish' but I learned to like a few things.

  • I adore Blair's (Leighton Meester) choice of fashion. I love her wardrobe.

  • I like Kelly Rutherford (as Serena's mom) as much as I liked her in E-Ring.

  • Most of all, I am too curious to know who is Gossip Girl, the person behind the blog where social scoops spread out like fire.

Gossip Girl is now on its second season.

Have you watched this teen show? Do you like it? :)

    BAFAB!

    by , in
    Dear Me,

Ever since I discovered this site early this year, I have long wanted to participate. I never really got on with it, so to speak. It's been three (3)
BAFAB weeks that had passed me by.

Anyway, this is the fourth and last week so I am not allowing myself to be left out of the fun and excitement!

It is no question why I am motivated to participate. It's all about books and they are just one of the chosen few in the world that bring a wicked smile in my face. Hehehe.

    What is BAFAB?

BAFAB stands for Buy A Friend A Book. It's an awesome site that promotes love for reading and friendships. Basically, it is all about surprising someone or anyone with a book or books as a gift during the first weeks of every January, April, July and October or the so-called "Buy A Friend A Book Weeks." What is so exhilarating about this idea is that you give books as gifts for no reason at all.

Since I am participating for the first time this year, I am still thinking what book to give. Also, I am considering whether the said book will come from my TBR pile or a newly-bought prize from the bookstore. Added to that, I am still figuring out how will I go about hosting this book giveaway.

PS. Next month is October so don't forget to drop by. :)

    Dear Me,

I am not yet done with all the blog template tweaking. I'm too preoccupied with a lot of things to do coupled with the tons of ideas and mental notes in the hope of accomplishing something. I have to grab the tiniest bit of chance to sort and organize my blog template. I have a family to attend to and for quite a while, blogging has to take a backseat. :)

If you were to name the one thing you have the most compassion for, what would it be?
~~ It's a toss between an poor, old person leading a solitary existence or a pitiful-looking dog. Seeing them makes me feel awful.

It's been said that, "The best things in life are free." Do you think this is true?
~~ Oh, yes! Although, I believe that the best things in life should be hard-earned, I also believe that there are things in this life that are meant to be savored without doubt or guilt. Take for example, relishing in the beauty of the sunrise or sunset, feeling the cold breeze of the night. They're free!

What is the most valuable thing you own?
~~ If we are referring to a concrete thing, I would say my books. They bring a smile to my face. :)

    Join the fun here.

    Have a pleasant week!
