I'm a SAHM now so my day consists of taking care of my baby boy, tidying up the entire house, preparing food, hauling dirty laundry in the washing machine, watching tv, checking my inboxes at night, reading a good book.

Yep, a typical day for a mom in the house! :)

What is something you've always wanted to tell someone?

To B3: I trusted you like a sister. introduced you to my friends when you were all alone. You didn't only betrayed me but also turned my friends against me.

We became civil, shook hands and agreed to be friends again. But I tell you, things will never ever be the same again for you took my trust forever. Of course, I have forgiven you.

Who is the black sheep in your family/group?
~~ In a brood of three (3), I don't think any of us is considered a black sheep. We might have gone overboard sometimes but not to the point of giving great shame or embarrassment to the family.

If you were a character from a book, what character would you be?
~~ Based on classic lit books, it has to be Elizabeth Bennet of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

What's your favorite accent?
~~ I have a thing for British accents (maybe that's why I love Simon Cowell). *winks*

Join the fun here.

Have a pleasant week!

Manic Monday #2

by , in
Dear Me,

Another new week
. Hubby took a leave from work to meet his cousin who's currently in Manila from Cebu. Sistah is as usual, always in a hurry at work. Mamu was also on leave because she woke up late. Hehehe. Papa is doing some carpentry work in the stairway in preparation for the construction of glass doors in the 2nd and 3rd floors by some professional builders. These same people also made our terrace looked nicer and better. Half of our terrace is now built with sliding windows.

Miguel is awake all day and very playful. I, on the other hand, can't do any chores. Well, I am bound to have a sleepless night tonight as I do my planned tasks for the day while my sweet baby succumbs to slumberland. Anyway, I'm getting the hang of it. :)

Is there anything for which you would willingly give your life?
~~ Like any other moms, I would willingly and without question or condition exchange my life to protect my baby from any harm or ill-doings that may come to him.

How would you communicate with someone if you didn't share a common language?
~~ Oh, this had happened to me a lot of times. I used to work with various expats and not sharing a common language had hindered us from communicating well with one another. I solved the dilemma by combining hand gestures, drawing and usage of basic words to relate the context to them. So far, they understood me.

Where is your ideal place/location to have a wedding?
~~ Ideally, I really want a garden wedding for I dream of being blessed with heavenly brightness and surrounded with flowers as I share the sanctity of the ceremony with my partner.

Join the fun here.

Have a pleasant week!

From Wena

by , in
Dear Me,

I was just doing my usual-but-not-so-frequent-bloghops-lately and I bumped in
Wena's. She included me in her gratitude and links around the world tags. Aside from that, she bestowed my blog a couple of awards, too.

I only met this girl once, when we were still single. I attended a church service in their locale with a common friend, Jary a few years back. She seemed reserved but friendly.

We never got a second time to meet again but somehow, albeit rarely, we sort of bumped into each other online. And now, she's blogging here.

Wena, even though I'm not truly worthy of being given these recognitions, I want to thank you for sharing these with me.

I'll pass these along with the others. :)

PS. I do hope that we'll meet again someday.

What's Your 8?

by , in
Dear Me,

Thanks to blogger pal
Willa (who's about to migrate to Canada soon) for hitting me with the 8 Random Facts/Habits tag.

The Rules:
  • Cite eight (8) random facts/habits about yourself.
  • Tag another eight (8) bloggers and let them know you tag them OR

My Rule:
  • anyone can tag themselves and join the game. :)

Chinese character for 8
a lucky number for the Chinese which means getting rich.

Eight Random Facts/Habits About Me

  1. I was in my elementary school years when I got hooked reading English pocketbooks.

  2. I fell in love with France (and French guys....hehehe). Living there was a childhood dream of mine.

  3. I started wearing eyeglasses when I was in Grade V. I endured the cruel teases of my classmates till high school due to my big, round eyes. I looked like a creature from nowhere.

  4. As much as I love french fries and potato chips and crisps and anything out of potato, I hate mashed potatoes. I find them yucky.

  5. I feel guilty when I see someone feeling out-of-place in a party. I don't want the person to feel that he/she doesn't belong in the group.

  6. I savor the feeling brought about by multitasking. It's a hobby which I do best.

  7. I abhor clutter and mess created by lazy people. Who doesn't? :)

  8. I dream of having my own library in the house.

Tagging people? I guess I'm opting for my rule.

Well, that's about it. Wanna share yours? :)

Painting Your Lips

by , in
Dear Me,

I'm not really a make-up person but to appear a little decent, I just use matte pressed powder and dab lipstick to add color to my lips. Sometimes, I use blush-on when I feel like it.

I can do away with any beauty essentials except for these two (2) especially lipsticks.

For me, I prefer the not-so-shiny-glistening type of lipsticks. I'm no Angelina Jolie to sport those pouty lips. I prefer the simple look.

Anyway, I keep the following in mind whenever it comes to coloring my lips.

  • To be on the safe side, I don't go more than a couple of shades lighter or darker than the natural color of my lips.

  • The more pigment that touches the lips, the longer it will last. Directly apply the lipstick via the tube if after color intensity.

  • After applying lipstick, blot it a bit using tissue between your lips. It removes excess emollients that make lipstick to smear.

  • To shy away from cracked lips due to moisture loss, apply a light coat of lip balm containing petrolatum or mineral oil over lipstick.

But in all honesty, I would love to learn how to put a full make-up (that is, make someone's face beautiful) on someone. =)

    Book Meme

    by , in
    Dear Me,

I have been browsing a lot of book blogs lately and came across this meme. I thought of hopping in and joining the fun. :)

    Pick up the nearest book.
    Turn to page 123.
What is the first sentence on the page?
The last sentence on the page?
    Now, connect them together.

I am currently reading Hollywood Wives by Jackie Collins.

But Bibi had always denied it.
She never commits to anything unless
she's certain there is nothing better going on that night.

Hmm. Guess this one makes sense. Can you guess what Bibi's up to? :)

    Musings At This Hour

    by , in
    Dear Me,

The house is so silent, save for the humming of the air-con. Everyone's in their own slumberland, even dear
    Miguel.

    • I have accumulated a humongous pile of books beginning this year, on top of the rest of the books I had bought last year and the years before that. It seems like I'm quick enough to acquire them than be able to read them. I really ought to make a list of my TBR to keep track of my books as well as urge my hubby to buy me a new bookshelf for my collection. It's getting too congested here in our room with all my books and I love them so much that I don't want them lying in the floor.

    • And speaking of books, I am sorely tempted to participate in a couple of book reading challenges. I am still checking them out which perk my bibliophilic interest.

    • I am looking for a copy of the Japanese manga-inspired movie entitled Nana. I believed it was shown in 2006, if I wasn't mistaken (was I?).

      image c/o NYT

Nana is a tale of unlikely friendship between two(2) girls sporting the same name despite having stark diversity of their backgrounds. Coincidentally meeting in a train trip bound for Tokyo, both girls struggle through hardships as they search for love and life's meaning.

The ImaginAsian Theatre in New York City will screen the movie during April 4-10.

    • Word for the day: insouciance

I was reading New York Times online and I came across this word. I have heard and read this word before but then I wasn't too keen then to learn more about it. So today, I made the effort.

Accordingly, it is a noun defined as affected nonchalance, blithe indifference, emotional coolness.

I was a little confused if this word connotes negative or positive reference. Further meaning search yielded:
      - the cheerful feeling you have when nothing is troubling you
      - may be an indifference that borders on snobbery

I can deduce that this word can either be in positive and negative connotations based on the context it is being used.

    American Idol Thoughts

    by , in
    Dear Me,

    • As I have mentioned before, Season 7 is the very first time that I took interest in watching American Idol. So, I sort of religiously watched the reality tv show. Although I felt sorry for our very own Ramiele Malubay for bidding everyone tonight adieu, I really never rooted her out to be The American Idol. Top contender, maybe but The One, I don't think so. Since Chikezie was booted out early on, it has to be either of these three (3): David Cook, Carly Smithson, Brooke White, respectively.

      Ramiele Malubay

    • I love David Cook ever since. Probably because of his rock star attitude. I have a thing for NEAT rock stars. :)

      David Cook

    • About Carly, she really has the voice power to be an AI. Simon Cowell is right about her wardrobe. I felt the same way when I saw her again yesterday wearing a black sleeveless top showing her tattooed arm. At first, it was fine but it seemed like she was donning the same top. It's time for her to show everyone that she's a star. Good move when she wore a yellow printed blouse tonight. It really looked fantastic on her. :)

    • About Brooke, I really agree that she has a great chance and has the potential to be an AI. I sort of dislike it when she tries to appease or agree with what the judges are saying. Or everytime when the judges say their pieces, she belts out her own even though they're not yet done talking. I am not saying that's how she's doing it but that's how it appears to me. It's my opinion.

      Simon Cowell

    • About the judges, Randy Jackson looks and sounds neutral to me. Paula Abdul is a great singer. I sort of grew up hearing her name in the house when I was a little girl. But as a speaker or conversationalist, I dare say she's not that good. She isn't spontaneous as she delivers her comments. Anyway, she is there to judge the AI contestants' talents and not to talk. Ah, Simon Cowell! I love this Brit. *sigh* I love it when he speaks and winks his eye when he's pleased. Mmm. He can be harsh sometimes but I think this guy has a heart. :)

      Ryan Seacrest

    • And the gorgeous host, Ryan Seacrest? I adore him as well. I love it when he opens the show with "America, this is American Idol." I also enjoy it when he and Simon do their verbal swordplay.

Well, that's about it. Hmm. I wonder who'll be cut out next? Does anyone has a prediction?

    My Instagram
