Thursday Thirteen #29

by , in
Dear Me,

I'm feeling like I wanna be organized and that most of the time, I jot all my things-to-do, errands, important reminders, schedules in my blog. I checked my blog posts for the month of July and included them in my list below.

Just for the benefit of wanting to accomplish tasks left hanging, I opted to add them up in my
Thursday Thirteen post today.

I allocate my thirteen (13) things to be done within thirteen (13) days. I have thirteen (13) stuff here but only covering eleven (11) days at the least --- just in case I don't wrap them up in the desired time, I still got two (2) days to finish them all.

For My Brother

by , in
Dear Me,

A few months back, my brother (who's currently working as a cost planning - civil engineer in Abu Dhabi) was looking for a copy of
Anthony Kiedis' book called Scar Tissue.

Scar Tissue is the autobiography book of Anthony Kiedis, Red Hot Chili Peppers' vocalist. From his birth in 1962 to early 2004, the book details Kiedis' life and experiences with drug addiction, stardom and struggles. The title of the book was derived from the band's album Californication's single called "Scar Tissue."

I searched the bookstores but the book in question was out-of-stock and would be unavailable indefinitely for months.

My brother then was scheduled to take a month-long vacation and I knew it would pleased him to have it.

Well, I searched for the book elsewhere. Thanks to
BM courtesy of Laura, who made the book available and to Susha of UK, who angel mooched it for me!

To Laura, thank you because you made it available and it's totally new and a hardbound version.

To Susha, I really wanna say a lot of thanks for sending it over. A hardbound copy and such costly shipping from UK to the Philippines. You're an angel!

I also sent to my brother in prior all my Bob Ong books except for the Alamat Ng Gubat which I bought in NBS because I didn't have a copy.

I hoped he enjoyed the books. :)

Nice To Be Friends With You, Too!

by , in
Dear Me,

I'm pleased to find out that a new blogger friend gave me this:

Carol, who is blogging at Insights From The Grocery Cart was nice enough to pass this on to me. She is a military wife and a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom) to two adorable (2) kids: Kuya and Kowi.

Five (5) trivias about her:
  • She finds peanut butter on bananas delectable.

  • She last drank coffee in 2002.

  • Instead of the husband, she was the one who made the proposal. Hehehe.

  • She and her husband will be celebrating their 11th anniversary on 11.11.11 (November 11, 2011).

  • She's positive that she can win the PhP1-M money on the pot in the show, The Singing Bee.

Come and visit her blog and tell her I sent you. :)

Have a great day!

Believe

by , in
Dear Me,

The post below stands true for everyone of us.

It's all about being able to believe in yourself no matter what happens. It's also about having a positive disposition despite the impossible challenges happening your way.

It's about being strong and continuing to attain your ambitions and aspirations in life. It's about being true to yourself, accept what you can do and be the person that you can and want to be.

Believe that hardships develop character, that we have a lot of choices in life and that things will soon be okay. :)

Print this out and keep it. Read it when you're feeling down.

Keep Believing In Yourself & Your Special Dreams

There may be days
when you get up in the morning
and things aren't the way
you had hoped they would be.
That's when you have to
tell yourself that things will get better.

There are times when people
disappoint you and let you down,
but those are the times
when you must remind yourself
to trust your own judgments
and opinions,
to keep your life focused on
believing in yourself
and all that you are capable of...

There will be challenges to face
and changes to make in your life,
and it is up to you to accept them.

Constantly keep yourself headed
in the right direction for you.
It may not be easy at times,
but in those times of struggle
you will find a stronger sense
of who you are,
and you will also see yourself
developing into the person
you have always wanted to be.

Life is a journey through time,
filled with many choices;
each of us will experience life
in our own special way.

So when the days come
that are filled with frustration
And unexpected responsibilities,
remember to believe in yourself
and all that you want your life to be,
because the challenges and changes
will only help you to find
the dreams that you know
are meant to come true for you.

Something For Me

by , in
Dear Me,

These packages came from the mail (oops, more like picked up from the local post office by hubby) for me.

Those actually contained books I have mooched overseas and won in book blog giveaways. :) I was so excited to open them up and see what's inside. *winks*

I tell you: it's fun receiving something from the mail. :)

Together

by , in
Dear Me,

Back then, I never thought I would have my own family. I was one of those idealist, career-driven working girls who wanted to create my own niche, be independent and be able to help my own family. I thought I would probably have my own family when I reached my forties.

I didn't.

I got married, had my own baby even before I treaded my thirties. I stopped working so I could be a full-time mom and wife.

I am not that idealist anymore (I guess there's really nothing wrong being one).

I would go back to work someday for self-fulfillment, do my part to provide for my own family and help my parents live in comfort.

moi, Miguel, Papi Dex

But for now, I'm contented to be at home and be an adoring mom to Miguel and loving wife to Papi Dex. :)

Somebody Received Something From Me

by , in
Dear Me,

I love receiving letters, postcards and parcels from the mail. It is just typical that I have become friendly with Mr. Mailman who is kinda pleasant, too. He will always buzz the house and shout my name (I stay in the 3rd floor of the house that's why), screaming that he got something for me.

Anyway, it is just befitting that as much as I am fond of receiving something, I am also pleased to send something out. Except for the sky-rocketing rates of shipping packages overseas, I cherish the excitement of mailing a little of me to someone so far away - be it a cute postcard reminding them of home, a novel-like letter telling tales of everything around me or a small package, which I have wrapped with care and a smile in my face. :)

postcards and packages sent

The above photo was a collection of postcards and packages (books entirely) I have mailed. These postcards traveled to Finland, France, the Netherlands, Taiwan and USA under the Postcrossing project. On the other hand, the parcels were received by two people in the metro, one in Denmark and two people in the USA.

Do you love receiving and sending mails? Have you received or sent something lately? :)

My Pastime

by , in
Dear Me,

I found a new hobby.

It's my mother's fault.

I bought her this while I was splurging money in a bookshop. It was supposed to be a little present.

Well, I never got around to giving her this. Why? It was because I saw her one time having the time of her life finding the words in the jumbled pages of a much better, thicker copy.

wordsearch

It was more of a book than a booklet, which is the size of my copy. Then, I saw her stash, lots of it. I think my brother bought those for her.

I was too ashamed to give what I bought for her so I decided to use it.

Anyway, I just discovered how quick my eyes were. I could easily find the words in a jiffy. :)

Because Our Schedule Didn't Push Through

by , in
Dear Me,

Supposedly, hubby and I would be bringing dear baby
Miguel for his pedia check-up today. Well, hubby decided to re-schedule it for tomorrow. Hmm.

Anyway, my house chores' (what else am I supposed to do at home? hehehe) list is jampacked today.

groceries

  • Wednesday means laundry day! [ONGOING] [DONE!]

  • check the previous grocery stocks (I don't want expired products in the house) [DONE!]

  • sweep and mop the floors [SWEEP - DONE! MOP - LATER] **[SOON]

  • "relocate" the dining area [MAYBE LATER IN THE AFTERNOON] **[SOON]

  • dust off the chairs [AFTER I DO THE LAUNDRY] **[SOON]

  • gather all trash [LATER IN THE AFTERNOON] [DONE!]

That's it for today aside from feeding, bathing and taking care of the little angel. :)

It's chow time! I'm starving.

Lost TV Series & Books

by , in
Dear Me,

I've been surfing book blogs as usual and I sort of got curious about the books referred or alluded to in the critically-acclaimed drama tv series,
Lost.

Lost, a tv drama series that follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a commercial passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South Pacific. The survivors are forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. But they discover that the island holds many secrets...

I was wondering what books were featured for I never caught the bug of including Lost in my list of tv series to watch. I thought it was boring although I had watched a couple of episodes then.

Because sheer curiosity is bugging me, I am going to watch Lost from its premiere season till the last or current season it is running (if I read it correctly, Season 4 is done already and Season 5 will be shown next year?). Sounds pathetic, ha?

And so I searched for the list of books involved. I begun last night but I was too preoccupied to focus on it. Just now, I found it.

I wanted a list that I could copy but I didn't find any. I, too, was then wondering if I could find the list of books as featured by season. And yes, I did find it, too. Perfect.

Via the
official Lost website, I found the bookclub. Books as shown by season is here.

These are the
books from Season 1:
  1. Island by Aldous Huxley

  2. Walden Two by B. F. Skinner

  3. Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Caroll

  4. Heart Of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

  5. Watership Down by Richard Adams

  6. Lord Of The Flies by William Golding

  7. A Wrinkle In Time by Madeline L'Engle

  8. Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone by J. K. Rowling

  9. Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden

Out of the nine (9) books:
  • ~~ I have only read two: #3 and 9.

  • ~~ I would like to re-read #3.

  • ~~ I think I have a copy of #7 in my TBR shelf.

  • ~~ I think I will find copies of the other books in this list.

  • ~~ I don't think I'll ever read a Harry Potter book.

I'll list the books from Season 2, 3 and 4 later.

Do grab the button and host it up in your own photo hosting site. :)

What book or books are you reading right now?

Currently, I'm reading two (2) books:
Rosie Dunne by Cecelia Ahern (daytime) and
Murder at the FBI by Margaret Truman (bedtime).

Rosie Dunne

The first few pages of Ahern's book, Rosie Dunne relived in me what it felt like to be young and be in a platonic relationship with a guy. But the succeeding pages were somehow akin to mine almost a year back.

Murder at the FBI

On the other hand, I can say that I am biased about any Truman's murder series book. It's always the suspense that keeps me from wanting to read and collect her books. :)

Anyway, I'm not even halfway done reading either of these books. :)

Manic Monday #6

by , in
Dear Me,

It's almost been more than a month since I last scribbled here. It's just that I felt there are lots of things to be done and I just can't seem to find the will to get started. *sigh*

What's your favorite beach in the world?
~~ To be honest, I'm not really a beach person. But I love the idea of lying down in the sand, reading a good book under the shade.

I've been to a lot of beaches but I love the beaches located in the islands of
Puerto Galera and Cebu. They're paradise, wanting you to escape the real life in the city. :)

What's the next country you want to visit?
~~ Setting aside the financial constraint, I'm torn among these four (4): Egypt, France, Spain and Italy.

But I can manage saving for
Thailand in the near future. :) I would love to visit the countryside. :)

What one thing are you craving today?
~~ A hot, creamy soup with croutons in it.

Join the fun here.

Have a pleasant week!
