She Says, He Says

by , in
Dear Me,

I've been thinking of doing this for a long time. I never got on with it them for I was too preoccupied with work, personal schedules, mountainclimbing and travels...and now, with family life.

Now, I think I can start the ball rolling. :)

I'm calling it:
She Says, He Says.

Basically, I'll shoot any of these: either a question, fill in the blank, multiple choices, photo or a writing prompt. The concept is to express your thoughts in your blog. Leave your links here when you're done. Anyone can hop in and join the fun! =)

Do grab the button and host it up in your own photo hosting site. :)

By the way, I'll be hosting it every Tuesday.

All Together Now

by , in
Dear Me,

I can't think of any title and yes, I'm kinda disorganized. Hehehe. Posting whatever.

What Chinese Animal Are You?

I've always known I'm a Horse and I couldn't agree more...except for the last three (3) sentences. Hehehe!

Blog Of The Month Award From MP

I got another blog award from MP. It's the blog of the month award. She gave me one last time.

(What a cute dog! It reminds me of my precious pup, Sakura.)

To this wonderful mom, I thank you for the bottom of my heart. :) I am in turn sharing this with the following people:

  • Kailani - she's new in my blogroll but I've been seeing her in BE and other wonderful sites. Thanks for all those awesome entries. =)
  • Trinity - love her very down-to-earth posts about family and life in general. :)
  • Sassy - love her simple and friendly entries. :)

Spreader Of Love Award From Trinity

Yup! Another blog award from a good friend, Trinity. She gave it to me during Heart's Day coinciding her birthday!

This very nice girl who's also a mom previously shared me this as well.

Belated Happy Birthday and thank you for sharing this with me. =)

I'm sharing this also to everyone here in my blogroll. Feel free to snag it. :)

Dilemma With Courier Service Air21

I don't understand why Air21 is having a hard time delivering packages to our place. It's like every rider of theirs are either slow with directions or plain lazy. I'm probably generalizing but how come 2Go, LBC and Xend Express can be so efficient and prompt with their deliveries? Aber? Once you hand them your package today, expect that by tomorrow your package will be at the recipient's doorstep. So unlike with Air21. Theirs will take days and even weeks. I had the experience of getting my package from Air21 for more than ten (10) days. Can you believe that? Their seeming inefficiency defeats the purpose of their business; that is, to deliver packages to their clients in the quickest, most convenient and effective way.

Inbox Clean-Up

Since yesterday, I've been cleaning out my email inboxes. I couldn't believe I had those tons of messages. I've been deleting spams as well as a lot of not-so-important forwarded messages. Well, I do read forwarded messages and keep them in a folder as long as they make sense, nice to share with other friends and those that touch my heart.

If you can only see my inbox, I'm telling you that I have a lot of folders in there. I have folders for forwarded messages, relating to books, baby & parenting stuff, travel, hobbies, climbs, blog, food, jobs, photography, health, etc. Despite that, my main inbox is such a mess. Tsk...

I'm A List-Aholic!

Before this month ends, I may have probably read through this blog of mine in search of backlogs: from the mundane to the important things to do, places to go, promises to keep. I want to list them all down here.

Being born under the twin sign, I have 2 extreme personalities at best. One is being a carefree, spontaneous, come-what-may type and the other, the freakishly organized persona (I tend to list a lot of things to keep tabs with my progress.

TeachersFirst.com

by , in
Dear Me,

As a first-time dad, hubby is so excited and has started buying books for
Miguel. I am pleased because I want my son to share my passion for reading.

I want him to start reading at a young age. It's a nice way of instilling virtues since kids their age are continually developing.

I have been looking for a list of babies' and children's book and accidentally hopped into
TeachersFirst.com. Designed for teachers, parents and students alike, this website offers practical and user-friendly resources for learning.

On the other side, I would love to share what I found in this site:

  • 100 Best Books - selected by the National Education Association (NEA) in 1999 as great reading for children and young people.

  • Educators' Top 100 Children's Books - a compiled list of best quality literature books based on NEA's online survey in 2007.

Moms and dads out there, feel free to visit their site and teach your kids to love literature and reading in general. =)

Feb. 25: Special Non-Working Day

by , in
Dear Me,

At a news conference last February 13,
Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said: "February 25 is a working holiday."

Yesterday, he told reporters that
PGMA has signed Proclamation 1462 declaring February 25, Monday, a "special non-working holiday."

Time and again,
Malacanang has proven itself to be fickle-minded when it comes to announcing holidays! These holidays are supposed to be fanfare for those who schedule vacations for family and friends. Well, Her Excellency integrated the idea of the so-called "holiday economics". It was such a good idea but then, she rarely stick to the dates she made.

Tsk...But then, this news is very welcomed by everybody especially travel buffs like yours truly. =)

February 25 marks the 22nd anniversary of the EDSA People Power uprising that led to the downfall of a 20-year rule of
Ferdinand Marcos. Supported by military rebels, the 1986 uprising brought about the restoration of democracy in the country.

For the updated list of declared holidays for 2008, check
Proclamation No. 1463. There will be nine (9) other regular holidays and five (5) special non-working days.

If I were you, mark your calendars, decide where to go, plan your itinerary, start saving and have that much-needed vacation with your family, friends or your significant other. *winks*

Today

by , in
Dear Me,

Mondays are always described to be manic. But today, I simply view it as...sane and unharried.

  • woke up at 9am, breastfed Miguel.

  • washed my face, brushed my teeth.

  • sweep the floors.

  • prepared Miguel's crib in the 2nd floor.

  • boiled hot water for baby's bath.

  • hung the washed clothes under the sun.

  • while hubby is bathing our baby, I fixed our bed and sweep the room.

  • after baby's settled in his crib, hubby and I had our veggie breakfast, milk and brownies for dessert.

  • hubby took a bath and left for work.

  • filled our water tank (electric) while watering mom's plants.

  • breastfed baby again.

  • changed diaper.

  • read a few pages of another Margaret Truman book.

  • logged online and checked my inboxes.

  • went bloghopping and reading other people's entries.

  • breastfed baby again.

  • washed dishes and pour Sosa in the sink.

  • by 3pm, watched Prinsesa Ng Banyera, My Only Love, Come Back Soon-Ae. =) (*sigh* Alfred Vargas is so yummy when he's all dressed up)

  • changed diaper.

  • devoured a lot of Ding-dong.

  • bonding time with baby - he's all fired up beginning this time since he sleeps all day.

  • watched Moms, The Sweet Life.

  • prep dinner.

Hearts' Day

by , in
Dear Me,

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

I woke up with a smile in my lips as hubby gave me a peck in the forehead and in the lips this morning. He also gave me a massage in the back as I've been complaining for days and nights about the pain that won't go away.

It was a nice start to start the day. =)

I am sure the streets out there, especially in the business district (where I used to work) will be crowded with people donning the red attire, women with happy smiles in their faces and men carrying chocolates, flowers and balloons for their sweethearts.

The whole town will be painted red till the wee hours of the following day. Who cares if it's just Thursday?

*sigh* I wish hubby and I can go out together, celebrate and have dinner. It's been a while...

I'm thinking of cooking something for tonight but I'm sure he'll be late again (because of work) in coming home. Maybe it will be just another day.

Anyway, here are the top 10 love quotes for this month of hearts:

  1. Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile. ~~ Franklin P. Jones

  2. At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet. ~~ Plato

  3. Love is an irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired. ~~ Robert Frost

  4. If you have it [Love], you don't need to have anything else, and if you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you have. ~~ Sir James M. Barrie

  5. Love is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. ~~ Henry Louis Mencken

  6. Love is a friendship set to music. ~~ E. Joseph Cossman

  7. True love comes quietly, without banners or flashing lights. If you hear bells, get your ears checked. ~~ Erich Segal

  8. Love is a canvas furnished by Nature and embroidered by imagination. ~~ Voltaire

  9. They do not love that do not show their love. The course of true love never did run smooth. Love is a familiar. Love is a devil. There is no evil angel but Love. ~~ William Shakespeare

  10. Like the measles, love is most dangerous when it comes late in life. ~~ Lord Byron

Template Tweak

by , in
Dear Me,

I've been quite bored with my not-so-old template. Last night, I decided to change it but never got on with it since
Miguel was unusually restless.

A few hours back, I searched for free blog templates sporting my favorite color: purple. I had some selections but this one from
Blogs Gone Wild surely caught my attention.

I love it. =)

But, I have to clean up my sidebar. It is surely messy. I have to eradicate dead links and do some updates. I also have to remove some stuff to make sure that my blog will load faster when viewed.

Let me know if you have suggestions. Post away! =)

PS. In case you encounter an unreadable blog (all pink stripes instead of the light pink text section), kindly refresh your browser. =)

Blogger Friend Recognition From MP

by , in
Dear Me,

Because I've been so laid back in blogging, I decided to pay a couple of bloghops in my blog roll. I read through a number of entries one at a time. After all, one of the purpose of this blog is to keep in touch with friends and/or make new ones.

Anyway, I bumped into this entry and found my name in it. I've been recognized by a new blogger friend! =)

To
MP of Finally My Journey, thank you for sharing this blogger friend recognition badge with me. I totally appreciate it as well as your friendship.

In return, I am also sharing this blogger friendship badge with:

Events & Places

by , in
Dear Me,

I thought of sharing the following information to those interested.

Panagbenga 2008 (Baguio Flower Festival)
With the theme "Celebrating 13 Years of Caring," Panagbenga 2008 is loaded with so many exciting activities.

Known as Panagbenga (a Kankanaey word meaning "a season for blossoming, a time for flowering"), this flower-inspired festival is being celebrated every February with the aim to boost the tourism industry. In celebration, there will be an opening parade, the "Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom" painting contest, the drum and lyre competitions, a grand floral parade, a market encounter, a float parade and "Session Road in Bloom" within the city, Pony Boys Day, the Mr. Panagbenga body-building contest, a barangay roadside as well as parks landscaping and beautification contest, a golf tournament, a marathon and other sports events.

Calendar of Events
visit here.

Manila Ocean Park
The Philippines' first world-class oceanarium to be located at the historical Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park.

The Oceanarium, said to be bigger than Sentosa's Underwater World oceanarium in Singapore in terms of floor area (Sentosa Underwater World has 6,000 square meters while ours has 8,000 square meters) is set to open on February 24, 2008.

This PhP1-B project is the first world-class marine park to adopt a "fusion concept," housing an oceanarium, a mall, a boutique hotel, a restaurant row and open marine habitats (where marine enthusiasts can learn to swim and dive with the fishes) in just one location.

FYI: The marine-themed mall and hotel is set to open in mid-2008 while the open marine habitats are also set to open in the second quarter of 2008.

Admission:
Adults: PhP400.00
Kids: PhP 350.00
Special rates are available for group and school tours.

3rd World Pyro Olympics
It's an annual event competition amongst countries featuring the largest and most intense fireworks display in the world. This time, it will be held at the Bay Area of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Schedule:
March 29 China (CN) vs Germany (DE)
April 05 Korea (KR) vs Canada (CA)
April 12 Japan (JP) vs Australia (AU)
April 19 Italy (IT) vs Venezuela (VE)
April 26 France (FR) vs PHILIPPINES (PH)

If I'm not mistaken, tickets cost PhP100.00 or you can just view the fireworks from afar for FREE. =)

Why not? Any of these events/places may probably be a pleasant excuse to enjoy and have fun with your family, friends and loved ones. It can be a venue where you can bring your mom and dad, spend time with them since you've been so busy with your work, friends and social life; forgetting all about them (I feel guilty).

There are also times you wish you can share a little of your time to catch and patch up that almost-taken-for-granted relationship you had with your siblings. Sisters? Brothers? The more, the merrier as they say. Revive the blood and life that links you together.

Checking these events/places can also be an option on how to spend Family Day with your wifey or hubby and of course, the kids. Weekends as always are fun times for the young ones.

If you feel guilty because you think (and your friends do, too) you have neglected the bond that ties you with people close to you, why don't you invite them and celebrate the good and bad times together?

Siempre, these are the events and places to be as well for those in the never-platonic relationship. Boy-girl, girl-boy having fun, sharing laughter. After all, romantic relationships lasts longer (forever?) when you also know how to be friends with each other.

Honestly, it's all pure, clean fun.

PS. Don't forget your cameras. It doesn't matter what type of camera you have. What matters is that you capture that memorable, touching moment - a smile from your baby, laughter from your children, kisses, hugs, pats from your parents, siblings, hubby, wife, toasts and cheers from friends.

Turning To A Couch Potato

by , in
Dear Me,

I have something to admit. I don't really watch tv. But being cooped in the house all day with just my baby boy
Miguel, the laundry and laptop that occupy my entire day, I turned to the boobtube for relaxation. Well, I have my books but that's given already. Anyway, what I'm admitting is that I had developed a routine - like I watch Channel 2's GKNB, Wowowee, Prinsesa Ng Banyera then push button in the remote control for Channel 7's My Only Love, Come Back Soon-Ae. Nyahahaha. Jologs daw. Well, I thought so, too but the important thing is I am having fun.

GKNB - I am so "inlababoo" with Edu Manzano. Such a very pleasant, funny, witty man for a game host. I even do the Papaya dance. Hahaha.

Wowowee - I never liked Willy Revillame then. Sometimes, I hate him for making fools out of the contestants and delivering double meaning statements (referring to his playboy image -- playboy ba siya?). But you know what? I sorta think that he has a kind, generous heart. He can also be baduy when it comes to hosting and speaking English (hehehe) but there are times (a lot of times) that I find myself thrown off my seat from laughing so hard whenever he interviews contestants in the game. Well, actually, it is the contestant that totally rocks my day.

Prinsesa Ng Banyera - I can do away with this series. I find Kristine Hermosa not a good actress. She delivers her lines like she's reading them.

My Only Love - Discovered it when I found Channel 2's folllow-up to Prinsesa Ng Banyera kinda jologs. So I shifted to Channel 7. Of course, it's a love story and I haven't have a dose of it (even from pocketbooks) since time immemorial. Honestly, I didn't know at first who the actors and actresses were. They're nameless to me since I consider myself more of a "kapamilya" rather than a "kapuso." Hehehe. Anyway, I found the tandem of Mark Herras and Rhian Ramos kinda "kilig" at first but later on, baduy na. Rhian's acting has become so monotonous for me. But I do acknowledge how great Sherilyn Reyes' performance as a villain. She's totally convincing.

Come Back Soon-Ae - Hehehe. I totally dig this Korean tv series! I wasn't actually planning on watching this but I found myself laughing the first time. So I watched it the next day. It's drama but the comedy's there. I genially applaud the Pinoy dubbers of this Korean show. I love the three (3) main characters: Soon-Ae, Leo and Joan.

    To
Michelle Dawn, I totally *heart* this.

    Pls. Answer The Following ?s

    by , in
    Dear Me,

    I got this entry from
    Marky's Multiply page.

QUESTION #1: What will you have for your last meal?

McDo's quarter pounder, KFC's french fries dipped in sweet chili sauce + coleslaw, Wendy's iced tea.

QUESTION #2: If you're given a chance to change your entire name, what would it be? I'm not looking for a witty name. Be honest and tell me your "dream name".

Ivan Ulrich or Carla Franceska. =)

QUESTION #3: What is your dream job? Say NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

    - is writing a job? I've always wanted to be a writer/journalist.
    - a wedding planner
    - a flight attendant...hehehe.

QUESTION #4: If you can talk to a dead person, who would that be and why?

    Any of these:
Ivan IV aka Ivan "the Terrible"
    Adolf Hitler
    Cleopatra
    Khufu
    Amenhotep III
    Kung Tutankhamen
    Rameses II

Why these people? I am so intrigued with Russian history (the czars particularly the Ivans), the grandeur yet astounding cruelties of Ivan and Hitler, the beauty and brains of Cleopatra, the mind of the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza, personalities of the Egyptian Pharaohs.

So, what's yours? Post it here. =)
