3rd BE Renter

by , in
Dear Me,

For the month of January, I have been addicted to horoscopes/zodiacs and of course, BE. I just don't know why. Hehehe.

All I know is that I am making this
BE thingie a regular part of my blogging habit. This time, I got 10 bidders.

Anyway, welcome to you,
Occasional Bitch. I chose her among the field of ten because OCB definitely rocks. The girl is cool and knows how to speak up her mind. It's really refreshing when women can be so brutally honest and the idea of men squirming makes me smile. Hehehe.

To OCB, a toast for you. And friends, please check her out in her small red space at the right topmost part of this blog.

The Chinese Year of the Fire Dog
January 29, 2006 - February 17, 2007
By the Astrocenter Team

Welcome to the Year of the Fire Dog - a year where loyalty is king and helping the underdog is generously rewarded. Compassion and kindness are key. In the business world, teamwork pays off when being an integral part of the pack gets you noticed. And don't even think about anything sneaky or subversive: you can be sure that anything less than complete honesty will be sniffed out right away. Anyone exhibiting bad behavior can expect to be sent to the doghouse without a second thought.

Fire Dogs love others fully, come rain or shine, unless someone gives them strong reason not to. The Fire Dog is more defiant, but not unless attacked first or treated unfairly. In 2006, you'll have to get in there early and work late to keep up with Dog-stars who will stay one jump ahead. There's a strong code of ethics in demand, as well as a call for "brothers" and "sisters" to band together. People want the truth in the Year of the Dog, and that is exactly what will be revealed.

The Year of the Fire Dog begins January 29, 2006. Check your Chinese sign below, and learn new tricks that will make you one lucky dog!

Rat:
Rats can expect romantic ups and downs and tests of loyalty in the Year of the Dog. The ups occur with friends who are kindred spirits. The downs happen when you are not tactful but outrageously, excessively outspoken. This year you should be well-paid for devoted service. Be sure to get busy or start saving for rainy days if you haven't been doing your job! Physically, you are a whirlwind. You will do to apply some of that excess energy to the social cause or community effort of your choice in the Year of the Fire Dog.

Ox:
Romantically, Oxen place physical appearance high on their list of qualities. No, you won't be attracted to "dogs" in the Year of the Dog, but you'll be drawn to other, more valuable traits that make relationships more enduring than looks alone. In this light, you should find love. The fiery year stirs your passion, including a temper somewhat on edge, especially when people violate your principles. You take work seriously, with a traditional eye on the future. You desire money and power and you could get one, the other or both as rewards for faithful past service.

Tiger:
Give and you shall receive, especially in personal relationships. You'll make better romantic choices initially. You intuit whether someone is right or wrong for you and you learn to trust your wise inner teacher's advice. You make and retain lots of friendships in 2006. If you've been a cooperative, loyal Tiger, you reap the rewards that you deserve. If not, your company has you by the tail and your tail could be out the door in a year when loyalty rules. On a positive note, you show enthusiasm and versatility. This could be the year you open that lucrative little side business you have dreamed and talked about.

Rabbit:
This year, you had better work on enhancing bunny pluck and nerve. A jumpy or shy Rabbit misses the warm and easy friendships available in the year ahead. 2006 could bring the loyal mate on your wish list. Yes, many people are finally going to grasp the idea that honesty is the best policy in the Year of the Dog. Valuable acquaintances multiply professionally. Your company is more likely to reward you for faithful service and to recognize your leadership skills. It is a year to shine!

Dragon:
Are you serious? Are you devoted to the truth? If not, you have to be in the Year of the Dog. You can't make it your way, anyway. In other words, one can't throw Dragon-like hissy fits and expect to be forgiven in a flash. The good news is that you easily make lots of professional friends, but you do have to stay around and demonstrate reliability. The scene changes for single Dragons, when looks aren't as important as what's on the inside. Sweet, humble and lovable Dragon, it's a rewarding year when you accentuate the positives.

Snake:
Boo! Hiss! The Year of the Dog is not one of your easiest years. Conditions improve by being up front, with honesty as "the best policy" rather than being coiled and ready to strike. The sincere approach is necessary when people are prone to sniffing things out that others don't want them to know. Get ready to network and mingle, because loners are quickly cut out of the pack. Dating Snakes are charismatic and attract attention. The romantic caveat is that, in love, boa constrictors need not apply. A mate needs space and will growl and snap if it is denied.

Horse:
It is a good year for you, dear Horse. Business Dog-types adore and protect anyone who is neither narrow-minded nor selfish - which of course, you are not! Your boundless energy is just fine, thank you. Just polish up patience and flexibility. There will be lots of changes and tweaking to get plans to come together. It's a good thing you can be ready to travel at a moment's notice, because you could be on the move a lot. Dating Horses are lucky in love in 2006, as are Horse couples. Singles are easily distracted, so there may be more than a few affairs going on. Better postpone making a commitment.

Goat:
The Year of the Dog is a good one for Goats! Where others lack consistency, you are the one that concerned canines can depend on to turn their dreams into realities, because you care too. In 2006, your networking connections become expansive so keep in touch now and in the future. Loving Goats discover it is best to start relationships as friendships, the best foundation upon which to build. While grand for business and love, you could find yourself with depleted cash flow if you entertain lavishly and overextend financially, which is unnecessary to impress humble Dogs.

Monkey:
Monkeys can flirt until blue in the face, while also whispering sexy innuendos, but neither approach works in a Doggie-type world. The winning approach is a moralistically true one. Forget pretending to be that. You've got to prove it every day, and can with the right person. Business gets serious in 2006. Not that you would intentionally deceive, but get ready for any deception or hint of it to be "sniffed out." Perpetrators are caught and punished, and deservedly so. It's payback time. On a positive note, share your creative ideas, bright Monkey. Dog-types love them.

Rooster:
2006 may not be something to crow about. You remain competitive, highly motivated and single-minded, but then that is your style. In 2006, such behavior may give others the impression of abrasiveness! You get growled and snapped at by Dog-types who expect a peace-loving and loyal team spirit, so start mustering some. Nitpicking and dissing others to make yourself look good doesn't work in Doggie-land. Single Roosters fight for the right to love the one they want and won't give up until they win an elusive heart. "No" turns to "Yes," or vice-versa, depending on finesse.

Dog:
A "fire" in the Year of the Dog stimulates confidence and energy. You make a difference no matter what cause you choose to fight for or which underdog you reach out to, and there are many. You are sweet, warm, and loving, but won't be pushed around either - and that is a good thing. Sometimes people take too much advantage, but not this year. In 2006, you'll show management that you are a leader, not just a follower. And, if they don't appreciate your talent, well, someone else will. Single Dogs are charismatic and it is your year for enduring love. Don't rush into something. Your special year is twelve months long!

Pig:
You've got fire in your eyes in 2006, sweet Pig. Those who know you best (or as well as anyone can really know you - even your own self) will say, "The old you is back and better than ever." You are more willing to try and become richer in many ways, including monetarily. Romance is a risk you are brave and confident enough to take. Being a loyal partner who offers unconditional friendship is easy for you. Since you place a high value on the same, your more questionable aiders, abettors and enablers seem too superficial. Old acquaintances are forgot. You are more content day-by-day in your long-term union, simply and beautifully motivated by love.

...And Another Forecast

by , in
Dear Me,

Believe it or not, I seem to mind the contradicting predictions of my sign for this year. I think I went overboard when in fact, I really don't believe in it. It's supposed to be just for kicks. I asked myself why I am so into it lately. I psycho-analyzed myself and came to the conclusion that: people tend to think much, be anxious, when they think/feel that things will turn out bad or something not good is gonna happen. Like, over-anticipate.

I knew what to do: find something good about it to thwart off the not-so-good perception out of my mind. Thanks to
EA, my recent BE renter. I got this link from her blog entry and I checked my own. Viola!

I'm an Earth Horse:
http://chinese.astrology.com/year/horse.html.
Horse's Overview Horoscope

General Situation
Your life as a couple seems to be very much favored. And for many of you the prospect of a financial improvement through work will further enhance the situation, for it's always been known that money is a great help to love. Your social prestige will also be on the upswing. Lucky devil you are!

On the other hand, the astral dissonances will have a negative effect on your personality. As a result, the undesirable traits of your character will tend to overwhelm your finer qualities. You must make great efforts to prevent your weaknesses from overcoming your strong points. If you succeed in this, then you'll be most praiseworthy, for 'victory over oneself is the greatest of victories' (Plato).

*****

Earth Horse
This year you'll be entering a very favorable small cycle, and these new dispositions will concern all sectors of your life. Your love life will be endowed with exceptional vigor. The general atmosphere will be marked with joy of living and euphoria.

Shopaholic Ebooks

by , in
Dear Me,

Bf is beginning to flood me with ebooks. I wonder if he is doing that because he knows that I am a voracious reader and I love reading OR he wants to prevent me from buying books more than I can read? Hehehe.

I have bought a lot of books last year and I am really way behind in reading them. The time which I usually allot for reading has been divided into surfing, reading emails and playing pc gamees; meaning, reading has been relegated to the bottom part of the priority chain.

I'm still not done with
Still Waters by Tami Hoag. Hopefully, I'll be done reading it tonight or tomorrow.

Anyway, I'm keeping those ebooks in my pc so when I don't have anything to read anymore (and I happen to be broke to buy books), I'll just turn my pc on and choose what to read. =)

PS. Here are the latest ebooks I have:

Pinoy Boxing Champ Won

by , in
Dear Me,

I was never a sports fan of boxing. Why? Because I cannot stomach the sight of 2 people boxing each other to death. And I never like
Pacman.

Days before his fight, I had this dislike of him talking too much. I rather prefer him not saying anything about his fight with Morales. What if he lose then?

Despite this, I joined the entire country (and other Pinoys all over the world) in rejoicing for his claim to victory. I am proud of him. Learning that he won, goodness! I can still feel the goosebumps and the hair rise on my skin.

Pacman, you made every Pinoy proud of you, of this country, of being Pinoy!

10 Things About Blogging in 2006

by , in
Dear Peepol,

Let me share with you this article entitled:
10 Things About Blogging in 2006. Written by Annalyn Jusay, this piece tells us what blogging will be like for this year.
1. Blogging is here to stay but the excitement will be leveling off. Blogging will no longer be viewed as a novelty and will create less of a buzz as it did two years ago. It will continue to become a widespread and accepted online activity. Those who can take the pressure of maintaining constant, regular posts will stay while the others will quit or go on to other pursuits. There's no harm in trying.

2. Niche blogs will rule. While political blogs will continue to lend their voice to the blogosphere, trends show that themed blogs dealing with food, tourism, entertainment, technology and other dominant concerns will gain leadership, if they are not already. Blogs will be an extension of popular culture as manifested by the high traffic of sites dealing with Korean telenovelas, music lyrics and reality TV shows like Pinoy Big Brother. This could serve as a tip for those who are still thinking of putting up their sites or want to be successful in this endeavor: go where the crowds go.

3. More Pinoys will attempt to go into professional blogging, or at least derive profits from their blogs. Probloggers are those who have quit their day jobs to concentrate on full-time blogging. In other words, it is getting to be a home-based business where you hope blogging pays the rent while doing something you love at your own time. In reality, many are called but only a few will succeed. The majority are still trying to make sense out of Google AdSense, as it is.

4. The rise of the community or group blogs. If thinking by your lonesome in front of the computer intimidates you, then why not gather a handful of your friends and blog away. Group blogs are primarily hinged on the idea that two (or more) heads are better than one. Plus, there's less pressure to post since the schedules are rotated among the members. Good examples of this venture are Blogkadahan, Echeblahblah and the irreverent The Man Blog.

5. A handful of bloggers will be recruited into mainstream media. One of the Philippine blogosphere's leading lights, The Sassy Lawyer, set the trend by penning her own column in another newspaper. We hope others will follow suit and more will be given the breaks. The key is having an idea or opinion that matters.

6. More members of the mainstream media will get into blogging. And not only this, we foresee that the mainstream media will themselves add blogs as a component of their websites.

7. Blogging and the mainstream media: a happy coexistence? Rather than debate on whether one will dislodge the other, blogs will continue to provide links to relevant news articles and bloggers will rely on the media as sources of their blog posts. "(Blogging) is not a substitute for the resources and brands that media companies have developed. Investigative journalism will still be the hallmark of the media. Bloggers are viewed more as fact-checkers to keep the media honest. The challenge for mainstream media is to keep up with the bloggers' speed," cites a paper from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

8. Blogging as a marketing tool. It is already noted that more corporations, businesses and private institutions will get into blogging, and we are not only talking of Microsoft's well-known "technical evangelist" Robert Scoble who maintains his highly-popular blog Scobleizer. Corporate blogging seems like a good idea if you want to get your message across dynamically and considering that most people aged 18-30 are now spending more time online. However, it shouldn't scream "hardsell." Put up a blog that smacks of a press release and readers will most likely hit the "Close" button.

9. Politicians who blog? A no-no! Honestly, we prefer to hear our politicians on radio or see them on TV. We wouldn't love to read something which is most likely penned by his gofer or publicist. Besides, he really wouldn't have the time to respond to all the love letters and/or hate comments.

10. High-tech blogging: the next wave. Even though podcasting has yet to take off in this country, our telcos are well-advised to mine the potentials of moblogging. Who knows the next time we might find ourselves blogging substantially from our mobile phones, or flash live video images from our camphone to Wordpress? The possibilities are endless.

BE & My 2nd Renter

by , in
Dear Me,

BE got me hooked. I love joining their Battle of the Blogs and the Rent My Blog thingie.

For a while, I was winning in the battle. Then I started hitting higher stakes than before and then when I realized it, I was losing. Hehehe. Goodness. If this is for real, I'll be bankrupt. Hohoho. Honestly, it is really fun. I just surf to gain credits and when I acquire a lot, I hit the battleground. =)

Meanwhile, I tried the Rent My Blog for the 2nd time. By the way, thanks to my first BE renter,
Stephanie Davies for bearing with me in this blog for a week.

For my second strike, I got 9 bids (I only had 4 bids the first time). Whoa. I never expected to have that much.

So, please welcome
Emily Anne and her blog. She's a Filipina, too and I rarely find them in BE. So, what can I say about her? One thing, she is interesting. Her lay-out's nice (does she loves oranges?), loves photos (of herself and friends...hehehe) and loves to tell juicy stories.

Click her bloglink located on the top portion of the right sidebar.

In Good Company

by , in
Dear Me,

I gave
this movie a thumbs-up sign for showing what life is all about and what really matters the most.

Some lessons one can pick up from the film:
  • Enjoy your way up; don't rush things.
  • Always remember that in haste, one tends to leave something behind.
  • Don't think that being younger and more energetic is tantamount to being smarter.
  • Family will always be family. Love, warmth and togetherness – that's family.

Here is the synopsis:
Dan Foreman is headed for a shakeup. He is demoted from head of ad sales for a major magazine when the company he works for is acquired in a corporate takeover. His new boss, Carter Duryea, is half his age--a business school prodigy who preaches corporate synergy. While Dan develops clients through handshake deals and relationships, Carter cross-promotes the magazine with the cell phone division and "Krispity Krunch", an indeterminate snack food under the same corporate umbrella. Both men are going through turmoil at home. Dan has two daughters, Alex, age 18, and Jana, age 16, and is shocked when his wife tells him she's pregnant with a new child. Carter, in the meanwhile, is dumped by his wife of seven months just as he gets his promotion. Dan and Carter's uneasy friendship is thrown into jeopardy when Carter falls for, and begins an affair with, Dan's daughter Alex.

Friendster

by , in
Dear Me,

While doing something official on the side, I was occupied with the not-so-official stuff. Hihihi. For the 2nd time since I learned about
Friendster, I got so focused on finding friends, acquiantances (who were somehow connected to the people in my account) from all over, since time immemorial that we have known each other.

I even went to the extent of searching their names (including the nicknames they go by) and most of the time, I got lucky. Some of them were unsearchable; maybe because they had a new name already (sporting their new civil status) or simply because they weren't in Friendster yet.

Curiosity got the better of me, too. I also searched for my 2nd ex-bf's account. I even thought I found him; using his full name and nickname. I am friends with my first ex and we are Friendster-mates. No bad blood between us.

The 2nd ex was a different story altogether. We or I was bitter when we parted. I did the dumping (I am not being on the defense here) and wanted to go back afterwards. Now, that sounded stupid. But I didn't regret it now, for I wouldn't have found the guy who is making my life rosier. Hopefully, there won't be a 3rd ex along the way.

So why was I so curious in finding R over Friendster? Maybe I am just wondering how he is now; if he has been well since we parted. He was a disaster, not because I dumped him. He made the wrong move about something and didn't have the balls to stand by it. I didn't (don't) need a man who didn't know how to accept life's sacrifices and bitterness.

Anyway, I still have to find some classmates from high school. Off I go.

What's The Catch?

by , in
Dear Me,

I understand the reality of providing corporate trainings to people working for a certain company. Usually, there's a bond to every agreement between an employee and the company management.

But to pay a small amount in exchange for breaching the agreement is beyond me - like a cost of less than PhP4,000 in exchange for working in the company for a year or two?

Anyway, I am not subscribing to any training at all. Thanks, but no. I got other plans.

13th Travel Tour Expo

by , in
Hope to see you there! =)
Travel trends to watch out for this year

Find out more about travel on Feb. 10, 11 and 12, as the 13th Travel Tour Expo (TTE), the largest trade and consumer event of the travel industry is slated at the Megatrade Hall in Mandaluyong City.

TTE '06 brings together local and international travel agencies, tour operators, airline and cruise liners, hotels, resorts, theme parks, travel product suppliers, and tourism promotion organizations in a milestone event that is the ultimate one-stop-shop for travelers.

With the theme "Travel Lifestyle: Experience the Difference!" TTE '06 is a venue for over 300 booths providing information and great discounts on tickets, cruises, and tour packages to various domestic and foreign destinations. Product presentations, daily raffle draws, entertainment, games, and surprises await TTE visitors. Visitor rates are at R50/day for general admission and R20/day for senior citizens.

TTE 2006 is organized by the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) as part of their 25th anniversary celebration, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism (DoT) and Philippine Airlines (PAL), and sponsored by Air Philippines and Galileo International.

"The appeal of travel is universal — an exotic destination and a chance to escape the daily grind often prove irresistible, even becoming a way of life for many people this past decade," said PTAA president Marciano Ragaza.

He added, "Perhaps it is our exposure, through media, to the outside world. Or because the world has gotten smaller because of more flights and other alternative modes of transportation. Or maybe because people have become just plain curious to see the world outside of their own.

Whether it's a luxurious week-long jaunt in a foreign country or a short drive for a change of scenery, travel remains to be a popular activity among friends, families, and even in the workplace.

Local destinations, for instance, are constantly being developed and discovered to serve the needs of travelers. While Boracay's white sands and vivacious nightlife, Cebu's innate charm and Tagaytay's ideal location and cool weather continue to lord it over the local sites, new attractions are being given attention.

The DoT's other top tourist choices include: Laoag and Vigan, most accessible to tourists from Mainland China; the investment havens Subic and Clark (where flights to and from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur can be taken at incredibly low prices); Southern Tagalog's hot springs, beaches and spas (distributed throughout Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, and Quezon); Palawan and Puerto Galera for diving. DoT also lists Antipolo, Donsol (Sorsogon), Iloilo, Bacolod, Bohol, Siargao, Camiguin, and Davao.

Among destinations abroad, "Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur are frequented because of low-cost carriers. So are Los Angeles and San Francisco," Ragaza said.

Religious pilgrimages and cultural tours across various points of Europe (France, Italy, Spain, and Germany) also make the list.

Malls, spas, lounges, hotels, restaurants – all these can now be found in well-developed airports. State-of-the-art technology such as wi-fi for the business traveler are also available. While the Internet has caused some business travelers to conduct dealings on-line to cut back on expenses, it has also opened up more possibilities for travelers. It allows travelers access to information on destinations, lodgings, and flight schedules. Electronic ticketing (ticketless travel), bookings and other travel transactions can also be done over the Internet.

The RORO (Roll-on-Roll-off) services are emerging as an alternative mode of travel. The network of ferry terminals and vessels provides faster, more efficient travel, and boosts inter-island commerce, trade, domestic tourism and investment opportunities.

The rise of low-cost carriers has also opened up frequent travel to neighboring Asian countries. But low-cost carriers may cause local tourism to slacken, however, as it is now cheaper to fly abroad than domestic, and foreign travel has always been a status symbol for Filipinos.

Thoughts About...

by , in
Dear Me,

I will be busy as a bee again beginning next week. My first project before the fiscal year ends will roll on Monday. To top that, I have 5-6 projects more to accomplish till the first week of March.

To keep track of some personal stuff, I better make this entry as a dropdown (literally, so to speak) list of the things that will surely require a few minutes of consideration.
  • reconfirm the internet exam before the office exam;
  • organize & follow-up the get-together schedule with UP DevStud friends
  • Be in Baguio for the Panagbenga next month;
  • Cebu trip with friends (hopefully by March);
  • upload recent climb photos
  • acquire my PX freebies
  • coffee get-together with UP pals, Louise & Patricia
  • a part-time job offer
  • acquire RX Victory Party tickets

2006 Stars, Horoscopes, Zodiacs + Forecasts

by , in
Dear Me,

As I mentioned before, I never really believed in horoscopes or what my so-called stars say. For me, they are not meant to be my destiny but they can always serve as my guide.

Since it is the beginning of the year, forecasts and predictions abound regarding the aspects of one's path through life. Well, I got pretty curious what my stars have to say. So, I'll let them speak.

Note: I'm a
Gemini (sun sign) and born in the Year of the Horse (chinese zodiac).
Gemini: May 21 - June 21
Element: Air (View the world through thought)
Stone: Citrine, Amber, Tourmaline
Colors: yellow; light green
Attractions: Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius
Motto: I Communicate
Notable people born under the sign of Gemini: Queen Victoria, John Wayne, Anne Frank, Henry Kissinger, Marilyn Monroe, Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Judy Garland, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Personality:
. These people usually have nervous energy to burn.
. Many forms of travel appeal to Gemini people.
. Faced with demands of the long haul they may just give up or change direction.
. They prefer to be part of a large group; tend to liven up any social situation.
. They are often accused of being fickle and/or superficial-- their view is that it is not a crime to change one's mind.
. They put great stock in non-attachment.
Air? As far as I know, Earth is my element.

The Horse

Horses are very appealing people. They are warm and friendly and dearly love social gatherings with plenty of people. They are perceptive and enjoy talking. They have a high-spirited nature and are changeable. This makes them hot-tempered, rash, and headstrong. They are always falling in and out of love. Quick to warm to someone, they are just as quick to lose interest. Here today and gone tomorrow -- these are the Horses. Then when you decide not to see them again, here they come ready to pick up where they left off!

Horses are adventurers at heart, but they do have sharp minds and good abilities for managing money. They are self-reliant and energetic. They love exercise, both mental and physical. Their movements are rapid, yet graceful; their speech is quick, yet elegant. Horses want things their way and they will become aggressive when all else fails. They value their freedom above all else. They are not possessive or jealous of others. Being moody creatures, Horses depend on the feel of things. They possess the ability to improvise while events are in motion and can handle several things at once. Horses find it difficult to unwind. They keep strange hours and suffer from insomnia. When they stop, it is usually from exhaustion. It is hard for them to follow a schedule for they have no respect for routine. They need to keep busy but do best when given a free hand.

Horses are full of new ideas to solve tricky problems. When they have an idea, they want to get right to it. They work around the clock until they finish. Horses want you to come to the point quickly since they don't have time to spare. They will not care if you are blunt, just don't waste their time.

Horses must be allowed to show their emotions. They are hot-blooded, hot-tempered, and impatient, and they will gladly demonstrate. In love, Horses are quite vulnerable. They give up everything for the object of their affections. This causes them trouble since they are such impulsive creatures! They must learn to use caution. If one has a Horse in their house, you can bet the Horse receives most of the attention. Horses like being the hub and have everything revolving about them. In return, they work hard and share with everyone.

Horses don't mind starting over. They maintain their determination and enjoy new successes. They belong in careers where they are surrounded by people. They sway crowds and love being flattered. The willful Horses get into countless predicaments but they bail themselves out. They enjoy fighting their own battles. Colorful and lively, they make many friends. If they could be in several places at once, they would be delighted! Their spirit is restless and searching. Creativity is part of their being. They are talented writers and performers.
This is 95% true. Things or qualities that don't add up are the following:
  • They prefer to be part of a large group (I still do but sometimes I prefer a much smaller group where everyone knows everybody. I think getting old does that to you. Hmm.)
  • has good abilities for managing money. (Ehem! This will only happen if I'm miles away from bag shops, bookstores and restaurants. But to defend myself, I really can if I REALLY want to.)
  • Their movements are rapid, yet graceful; their speech is quick, yet elegant. (I don't think graceful is the right term, more like lithe. But of course, I am really HEALTHY these days so this one doesn't count. Hehehe. Yes, I speak really fast but not elegant. My words tend to get lost somewhere as my mind processes a lot of info as fast as it possibly can.

2006 Forecast: You will be luckier in work now. The situation in the office may actually be in your favor; this is the year that your boss will recognize your contributions to the company. If on the other hand, you want to seek greener pastures, you will actually find one. It's alright to expand your horizons this year. You will also be more health and figure-conscious as you tend to gain weight more easily this year. Start a new fitness program. You will frequent spas this year.
This one speaks the truth about career change and being figure-conscious. My golay! As if I haven't gain a pound since last year; and this year, too? Now, that's scary. For the love of me, I CAN imagine myself like an inflatable rubber. I will frequent spas? More like jogging at CCP and/or hitting the gym.

2006 Predictions For The HORSE:

Your Career Outlook
Things can get political in your workplace and someone may be out to discredit you or make your life a lot harder. Therefore it is very important to be careful about who you are mixing around with.

Mind your own business and try not to step on other peoples' toes. If someone is trying to make things difficult for you, try your best to remain calm and collected. The way to handle this is to be more meticulous in your work to avoid making mistakes and blunders. Be professional at all times.

Your Wealth Outlook
You are quite lucky this year and you may make a small windfall from your occasional trip to the casino. It is advisable that you be more prudent in your spending and save up for rainy days.Lucky months are February, May, June, October and December.

Your Health Outlook
You are naturally popular and have a wide social circle. Hanging out with friends is a part and parcel of your life. Just make sure you do not drink excessively and stay away from drugs.

Pay special attention to illnesses related to your stomach and respiratory system. Seek medical treatment early if you do not feel well.

You are also prone to mishaps and accidents this year. Try to avoid dangerous activities such as extreme sports.

Your Romance Outlook
Someone may be out to thwart your relationship with your partner. Do not listen to rumours. If you are feeling insecure about your relationship, a better approach may be to talk openly about it with your partner. If you choose not to confront the issue and instead listen too much to what a third party got to say, your relationship with your partner may not work out.
My career forecasts is sort of confusing, contradicting actually. Anyway, I'm more concerned with the romance outlook. Promise, I won't listen to rumors BUT I won't be caught up sitting in a corner and bawling. Go, figure.

Coca-Cola Bottle Collection

by , in
Dear Me,

I have read somewhere that the Tourism Department together with the Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines will be releasing limited edition bottles showcasing our various tourist destinations, famous festivals and products. This is for the purpose of further boosting our tourism domestically.

From what I remember, these
Coca-Cola 2006 Limited Edition Bottles are 8-oz glass bottles that are wrapped in full bearing the Department's "Byahe Na" trademark. Every month, one tourist destination will be featured. The province of Cebu is the featured destination for this month.

I am fixated on collecting these bottles for 12 months. Hehehe. =) It is a nice collection aside from being the perfect souvenir item for travelers.

By the way, each bottle costs PhP20 only. They are available at airports, hotels & resorts, souvenir shops, pier and bus terminals, restaurants and food outlets, gasoline stations, supermarkets and during fiestas for a limited period of time.

(thoughts to myself: "laki na naman ng sales and profits ng beverage company na ito.")

Tourism says, "Tara na, biyahe tayo..."

I say, "Tara na, bili tayo..." =)

Lots Of Things At A Time

by , in
Dear Me,

So what am I doing right now? Let me rephrase that: What are the things I am doing right now? Aside from cramming, multi-tasking is what I love to do best.

I am here at my workstation feeding on my pork giniling with egg lunch and sipping my Fres-C (yeah, without an 'h') pineapple juice (I like the taste). On the side, I am writing names in the mini-greeting cards so I can finally 'dispose' the gifts I wrapped last December 29 till the wee hours of the 30th (I did not sleep because I enjoyed wrapping the items I bought for people I care about and I wasted almost 3 hours for my sister to buy me that gift wrapper). The month of hearts is just around the corner and my wrappers are still in the festive mood.

Aside from doing these two, I am also blogging now and add to that, I am browsing the websites of my 2 potential renters from
BlogExplosion. I am not really after traffic but I love to surf and read stuff from people's lives and experiences. I was exploring the features of BE and I chanced upon this Rent My Blog thingie. I thought of trying it out.

So what is this Rent My Blog thingie? It's where people can rent a little space on other people's blogs using credits they have either acquired by surfing and reading through blogs at BE. I have gained enough credits to even join the so-called Battle of the Blogs. Not that I have something to boast about my blog but I really find it neat and cool to join and wrestle with the other blogs. Out of 17 battles that I joined, I won 3 and lost 14. Hehehe. I know, big loser. But it's fun. =)

Anyway, I'm done with my lunch (though I have to bring my eating buddies to the pantry so I can wash them clean) and gift card-writing and with this post. I had to get back though with reading through my bidders' blogs so I can decide which blog will grace my space here. Ciao.

Gunning For The One

by , in
Dear Me,

The feeling that my career or my life (in its entirety) is swinging on a cut-thin thread is driving me insane. It's like I'm chasing Time everyday. People my age refer to it as experiencing the so-called 'quarter-life' crisis. Is it?

Maybe it is. But it doesn't matter. Okay, it does.

One day, I'm too focused on my drive to do the things that need to be done; but the next, I'm just being too carefree to think about it and then the following day, I'll be caught up in a whirlpool, trying to hold on and beat the urge to lay back.

I was once an ambitious girl. Ambitious in the sense that I wanna be somebody someday. Not literally taken as in be famous for people in the world to know but in my own sense. It matters to me then to get a graduate degree, have a title, climb the corporate ladder. But where am I now?

I'm not really totally regretting the course of my life right now. I like it the way it is but it is simply lacking. It is in my nature to be competitive with myself, beat my abilities to its own limits and that I am up for the challenge. It has nothing to do with external factors - the people around me or the things/events happening to me; it's more like an internal battle to be the real me.

Oh, blasted. What the h--- am I blabbing about? Sheesh.

Anyway, I really want to have that job in that company. I think I'm gonna be happier there. Setting the pay aside, I want to work in a company that provides/allows personal growth to its employees.

I need to pass the 3rd step to clinch the possibility of acquiring the post. But I have a problem to fix before settling with the 3rd step; and I am literally chasing Time at the moment.

I haven't applied yet with my 'cheesier' prospects but I really want to gun this down.

PS. If anyone's reading this post, please refrain from asking me what company I am referring to. I have personal reasons why. Please understand. =)

Resume, Job Applications

by , in
Dear Me,

It was my unedited and unrevised resume that made my plan of resignation slipped off from my grasp. That plan was borne since year 2003.

And so before the Christmas holiday, I worked on it and got the result. My updated (I made a new one) resume is ready to be passed on to the hands of prospective employers.

I was in confusion whether I would start sending applications or not. As of today, I have six (6) simultaneous projects ready to roll beginning January 23rd till the first week of March. I couldn't afford to take leaves nor absences before that due to preparations, meetings, etc.

I decided to pursue the next step by March.

Last December 29, boredom took its toll on me. I was in front of my computer and thought about my resume, new job and the like. It stirred a different kind of thrill within me. I applied online.

While my overworked mind screamed "NO", "STOP", my carefree self said "GO, DON'T WORRY." I stuck with the latter. It was easier, thrilling. The thought of experiencing again the things that I did almost 6 years ago in the hunt to earn my own keep was exciting.

--------------

I actually desire a career shift. The current thing that I am doing right now bores me to death. No excitement, no growth.

Well, I also do not have plans of totally abandoning my line of work. It has taught me a lot of things and learning new stuff will always be interesting and 'comforting'.

So where did I apply? Let me make the list:
PeopleSupport
United Nations
Board of Investments
Cebu Pacific
AskMeNow
Convergys

Pending applications:
Asian Development Bank (have to fill-up a form)
World Health Organization (have to fill-up a form)
Foreign government trade agencies (like the one I'm in right now)
Foreign embassies and consulates

Last January 2nd, I got a call from PeopleSupport. I didn't think I pass. I did not expect that call and it was a telephone interview. I wasn't ready to sound formal that day. I was at a loss. Hehehe. No big deal.

At the office this morning, my mobile phone rang. It was a landline number. Somebody from Convergys called in to set up an interview with me tomorrow. I said I couldn't tomorrow. I asked for a Monday schedule and we had it settled at 1600 hours at their Ortigas office.

Blasted! What was I thinking? Tomorrow is a Saturday and that will be the most convenient day. Tokwa. I thought tomorrow's Friday. Bangag.

By the way, I have to contact this Mico guy and have the interview rescheduled tomorrow. (yea, everything sounds 'tomorrow'...)

Ciao.

New Year, New Look

by , in
Dear Me,

Finally! I found
THE ONE.

It took me one boring night to come up with the idea of changing my blog's template.

It took me two weeks to search, scour, test every likeable skin there is.

It took me two sleepless nights to transfer the contents from the old to the new one.

It gave me my second day of heavy headache and the desire to catch even a wink of a sleep.

Yeah. Big deal. It wasn't supposed to be but I couldn't help myself. When I really desire something to be done, it wouldn't take anyone to force me to; I would gladly and enthusiastically pursue the case. Yeah, big deal. Huh.

Through my surf search, I did find quite a lot of good ones but I guess they weren’t good enough for me. They lacked some of the things I needed in a blog or they did not complement well the modifications I made based on the original template or they weren't me at all.

So, I finally have THE ONE.

My Instagram
